I have been told the Audiom 6w was in Jason Gay's Pontiac (icebird?) mid-bass (very memorable 5 minutes listening to stand up bass in his car). I opted not to go that direction primarily due to the inefficiency of the driver... but yeah it is good.

I do have a pair of Dynaudio Esotar 330 (NOT D series) tweeters laying around collecting dust if you are interested (the magnet is bigger than my fist) I think its Fs is 750 Hz with a recommended crossover of 2000 Hz or higher
I have never heard the Supremos in a car without an edge to them (most likely windshield reflections, so proper install may change my mind) ... what model number is it? Probably heard them in home audio and loved them

The Focal Utopia 6W1 is below 89 db/w as I remember....I'll have to bring up my LMS plots again. (Different from the home audio driver you've linked above) From the sounds of it, it may have been the 6W1 that you listened to. (Or even the 6W2 if it came from the 165W 2 way kit) I can confirm that the 6W1 is a marvelous driver tonally, and that it can handle more power than it's rated for, but it was in my experience as well, not that efficient.
Thanks for the offer on the Esotars...but my heart is set on the Supremos. Always wanted to try a set....
What drivers are you using with that new Zapco amp you've got? (Your cardomain link doesn't work for me)

I am currently using Memphis comps (passive) and am preparing to go to Hybrid Audio. I think I made my point on competing fairly successfully with inexpensive stuff now I want to bring the timbre level up a bit.
I also assured Scotty B (3+ years ago) that I would use his speakers in my next build (I say what I mean and I mean what I say). I made this PRIOR to hearing his speakers or any Team Hybrid vehicles.
looks like they pulled the plug on my cardomain page and I was the tenth most popular taurus too (high praise indeed)

.............only thing I would like add is this............ considering you lads are all VERY good at this SQ audio game................
..........thee fine Tahoe machine you are considering to build in with the copious amounts of fine fine gear in order pleasure your SQ sensibilities............is a sh-t can at best in the rattles, vibrations and annoyances department for any SQ person. The last two we did are falling apart.......... at the seams........ and I really mean that. Mind you, they are more geared towards a street SPL system.
Anyways, with that being said, I would taylor your efforts with this in mind. Unless you are going to a total GUT to make the truck a bulletproof soundroom, I would caution you to the levels of effort and gear. For example, nothing like installing that awesome front end only to have all the interior panels rattling ............ and we all know that a rattling panel (aka a door panel) can have the characteristics of a ............. passive radiator......... that makes life miserable

Why would they pull the plug? Aren't they trying to generate traffic for add banners?

From my exprience last time with the BMW (A fairly well built vehicle IMO), there are a couple of things I won't be doing this time.
- Mounting drivers in any of the doors.
- Mounting drivers directly, or indirectly onto any factory trim panels.
- Putting fuzzy dice on the rear-view mirror.
Regarding the "falling appart at the seams" comment: I'll get in touch for a more detailed explaination. If I'm going to strip this thing down for the wiring required, doing a bit of welding/re-enforcement wouldn't be that difficult. Heck, my driver mounting will already involve a bit of welding/cutting to start with...
Still undecided on the "bulletproof soundroom" approach...

Who said anything about the A-pillars? I'm putting everything that won't fit in the kicks, into the center console. (Wiring is much much easier) Nobody will notice where the mids are coming from anyway with the bass I've got planned...
Which brings up a really good question: Do loud car stereos propogate hearing loss in both the left and righ ear equally, or is there a skew from nearfield reflections?

Everytime I pop back on this thread I see more old members! Nice!
Adam, the system isn't going to up and running for a little while... still much to sort out.
With regards to midbass that will fit underneath your dash while keeping those PL's as priority... are you looking for a very shallow mount driver? or would you consider doing an AP enclosure? If the latter, then that would definitely open up the selection! I doubt doing a midbass array would be an option... ?
If you're looking for a large tweet, I might be able to score a pair of Scan R2904/700000 at a good price.

You have to also watch out that you don't lean forward and that phase plug bursts your eye ball

I think I'd be more concerned about mounting them near airbags! That's a big booo and a thumbs down for a-pillar bags.
