well, i guess i better spend more money then. the last deck that i owned that reall sounded better than most was an eclipse 5303r.

 

nice piece! I had a 5302 and loved it!

 

the 8240 is still a great deck, I did really well with it in Iasca this year

 

I just picked up an Alpine CDA-7995 on ebay for 200USD. The deck is awesome with it's mp3 and XM radio. I find the SQ is just excellent. It is only a Pre-amp, so you will need an amp to power your system. Any of the Alpine Head units that start with 79xx are Pre-amp only and should sound just as good.

Are ya's snowmobiling up there yet? I just spent the later part of my summer/fall working at the smelter. I saw some snow, so i had to bolt home and start working on my sled

there's a little bit of snow. my last deck was an alpine 9833, but i think the eclipse sounded better(still had same comps-avi- and amps-orion- to compare),i have 4 amps,am running full active 4 way.don't care for mp3's sound quality, so as long as it plays cdr's i'll be happy

It's a good deck. I liked mine when I had it.
