Tried that once, it just revealed more space. As wide as I opened it, no more money came out. Salesman waited forever and I kept trying to no avail.

Ok, I've semi-decided to go w/ CDT CL61's up front and CL6x's in the back, just gotta make sure they fit in my doors (Gonna take my friend's CDTs out of his car and pop em in mine as a test). I intend to run them at ~75x4 or more. Someone please tell me: will they really sound that terrible if I just install them in the stock locations w/ MDF spacers? Is it possible to maybe mount the tweet in the door and the 6.5 woofer somewhere else? What other alternatives do I have besides kick panels? I just fear that the locations for the kick panels would be too tight in my car. Plus, although not necessary, I'd prefer a "true stealth" setup. You guys have been very helpful up to this point and I appreciate it.

i am a car stereo newbie..
learning alot just by reading yr comments..
pardon my ignorance, can someone explain to me the use of 'kick panels'? where are they installed? I hv a new 03CR-V. ( 1 wk old) and am looking to upgrade the factory stuffs... I am very interested to hear more about how to find out a good installation vs. not? ... i am looking at the Focal 165K2 or V2 (front speakers).. shud i not install them in the factory door positions? From what I hv heard, if the install is done properly.. maybe i could save some $$$ and buy less expensive speakers and allocate the budget on installation and a nice alpine HU? does anyone know a good install shop in BC (Lower Mainland) area?

thksalot..

Unfortunately not every one can afford the luxary(sp?) of kicks. But here is a serious question about kicks. What happens in the winter when u get into the car with salt, mud and snow on ur shoes. Dont the speakers usually get ruined. Or does it no really affect them???

I have very little room for any thing. I own an original Mini. 6.5 in hand molded fiberglass in the front. They have Infinity ref. in them. When building them we molded them off the floor up towards the dash. So far they have never been close to being damaged. And they sound real goood. I've just returned from Worlds and all the judges loved them the Mini wasn't the best but 5th is OK for me. And the car is driven regularly in an spirited fashon. Do your home work ask ask ask. no stuped ?'s

well your not supposed to step on your speakers lol...but it shouldnt really affect it if you got speaker grills on em with a tighter mesh (think of the properties of water keke)...they will get dirty over a period of time but you can always do a little clean up whenever you vacuum the inside of your car
