Monster Home SQ build
lolI just wanna know what fudgetablet would choose for a driver... The cabs and xovers were built in a way to maximize the driver's effective frequencies, and I'm sure the drivers themselves were selected for their tone and accuracy. Every cab/driver/xover combination is different, so I'm wondering what fudgetablet brings to the table here... Say something's not so hot, show me something that is
the morel mdt33 because its has one of the fastest transient responses of any tweeter every built and is extremely dynamic, or the scanspeak 700 series revelator tweeter. why in the hell is there an l-pad in line in the tweeter, tsk tsk. to answer the obvious next question, i have recently heard the hybrid speakers and formed my mediocre opinion based on auditioning them
L-Pad WHERE???
There is an L-pad on the tweeter. I found that after listening to them I need to attenuate it just a little. This is a common requirement with many speakers, hi-fi or otherwise. Diffent tweeters may have allowed me to go without the L-pad, but with the speaker given to me this was the best route in my opinion. The resistors are of above average quality, so I don't see any issues with using them.
The inductors were a little too large to place the all at 90 degrees to each other. But you can see in the photos that the inductors have been place as far apart from each other as possible and the inductors for the midrange have indeed been placed in the correct position.
As far as speaker choice goes, these good are quality drivers. They may not be to YOUR taste, but to each his own. The end result was a very revealing loudspeaker, that is not fatiguing. The bass extension is good in moderate size rooms and this is still a fairly small cabinet.
