setting the dials

setting the dials

im clueless as of setting the buttons on the back of my amps
there are 2 six inch alpine type S in the front
and 2 3x4 type S i think hooked up in the back
my amp is an pdx 4.150 and need help on the crossover dials. WHERE do i set the dial at? the bottomleft sits at 30(hz) andthe finish at 400

also should i have the setting for hp or lp , have it set at hp.

im running a second amp (pdx 1000) for a jlw7 12 and again reall clueless about the settings..any help is greatly appreciated n thanks in advance

forgot to add. what cd should i look for to adjust the gain/settings/./ is there a section at HMV for this...i think id need 2 cds right, sub testing and comp testing?

I like to set my high pass & lowpass crossovers at about 80 hertz. It's just a generalization, but it's usually safe. If you hear popping sounds coming from the mids, increase it until the popping stops.
As for the gains, it will depend on what kind of deck you have and how adventurous you are. I would have to suggest half for now until you can have more experience to tune it properly or until you can take it to a professional.
If you hear nasty sounds, turn it down. If you let the smoke out, turn it down and take it to a pro.
