you shouldn't have issues, those are pretty efficient amps and sub.
i run 4gauge, yellow top in the trunk, and i have an id max with two pdx amps...and i don't have any issues. and my alternator is smaller than that.

if you get efficient gear you often won't have to buy some giant 200amp alternator:P ..not for sq anyways.

Do you only run one battery for everything?

Sigh.....

I don't know why some of you guys get so wound up about this kind of thing.....it's not like there's anything wrong with doing it that way.....

It's his opinion and if he has had good results doing that kind of electrical reinforcement for systems he's installing, I don't mind hearing about it. I might not agree with him about the need for it at a certain level of equipment (i.e. Jensen vs. Audison) for the rest of the install, but that's about it......

If the concern is that a customer at a shop is being over-sold on the need for the extra power, I would place that issue right in there with, among other things, sound deadening and custom sub enclosures. Each adds value to a system by improving the over-all sound quality in a way that the customer can hear and see, and they are things the average person has no clue about. The effects of those two examples are more easily demonstrated before an install begins and definitely more audible after it's done, but if the electrical supply can't keep up with demand, the first two seem kinda minor at that point.....

I am more concerned that a newbie coming here have the opportunity to hear all of the opinions than anything else. In this day and age there is no excuse for an un-educated consumer. If you intend to spend what for you is a substantial sum on anything these days, you have to do your homework to make sure you get a fair deal. Going to a store or a shop gets you some of that info, but they have a vested interest in making money and will naturally favour what they sell.......Places like this are a great way to fill in some of the blanks, but that gets lost in the hostility in some of these threads.

At the end of the day, if the customer decides to do the 2nd battery and the heavier wire, he may never hear the difference but he will probably notice his headlights are always nice and bright and for him that may be worth it.

Sorry for the rant, I didn't mean to jack the thread......

OP, in 3 words....it can't hurt..... With that much power you should be running large wire anyways, the extra battery helps to a certain extent no matter how loud you are at the moment......

HTH

Where are you getting 1000w from? Do you even know what a zapco c2k series amp is? Who said im an expert? Lots of people seem to agree that with 3 power hungry amps you would need 0 gauge.

The tread is kind of jumping' around because a few people are now asking questions about their setup but if you're asking me yes I know what a C2K is because I have three of them. I have two 4.0 amps running my front end. The first one is powering my tweets and mids at 100x4 @ 4 ohms (400w). The second one is bridged 300x2 for each mid bass driver (600w @ 4ohn). Grand total of 1000w for my 3-way setup. Not sure why you asking how I’m getting 1000w my first post says which amps I have. I know it's a lot of power but in SQ and daily driving I'm sure I will never use more than half the power. That’s why I’m asking should I add a second battery if it's not really necessary.

It's very interesting to see that everyone has gone about their install a bit differently from the next guy (power wise). I got a chance yesterday to hear one of CCA board members rides and lucky for me it was a car like mine. Stock battery and alt,0 gauge run more power than me and the car was loud way more power then I would need for daily listening.
Thanks Nick and thanks everyone
I think I will hook it up stock see what happens and go from there replacing one part at a time until I see what was needed. When I say stock I mean leaving the factory battery and alt.

I wasn't referring to you, I was talking to luke. He doesn't get that you have 2000w of power bewteen all 3 of your amps.

all I was saying was if hes not running all his amps at full power hes more then likely running about 1000 to 1200 watts out of his amps so if hes only going for daily driving why not run one battery see how it goes if he needs the second battery then he can add it instead of spening a few hundred on the battery and the bigger wiring
