Alot of what you are describing has to do with signal processing. Considered a new Processor or headunit change just to see?

I deffinatley agree with you john on the be at least some subtle audible differences between one amplifier and another even if they are very similar specs. I could deffinatley tell a distinct difference in tonality between my old MTX 275x and the JL that im running now.

L2t me just point out that this is a very subjective post and that we all know what psychoaccoustics can do as well as slight gain differences (IE different power levels) will make the sound different.

Is there really magic SQ dust on those amps that other amps don't have? Doubt it.

Are you suggesting all amps 'sound' equal?

Not sure, but if he/sne is, I would HIGHLY suggest he go to a 2 ch store and ask for a demo of some high-end gear. Best But and Future $hit don't qualify.

Let me just point out that every test to determine if someone could tell the difference between amps in a controlled environement has FAILED.

Let me also point out that your suggestion to go out and randomly listen to different units in an uncontrolled environment is extremely flawed. I would simply come out with more subjective data that would lead me to no quality conclusion.

IMO, yes it's possible to have 2 amps sound the same, but just level match the output before clipping is not enough. So in a car where you are very limited in space and every time you add a device to the signal path there's a risk of more noise, is it really possible to take a cheap amp and make it sound like a more expensive one? Maybe, but will it be a fun setup to listen too, probably not since the cheap amp will only put out a few watts to keep up on par with the higher end one in term of sonic fidelity.

So yes on paper and in the controlled environment "aka lab" it's possible but in real life i stick to the more expensive stuff because i like to hear but also feel the music.

Any examples? It sounds to me that you are suggesting all amps are equal in sonic qualities.

Do we really need to get into this again? Nobody wins this argument.

Well, sometimes I win because someone gets pissed off, calls me a douche, and I -can them. But other than that...
