You term SQL seems to be different from most (mine for sure). I'm not concerned with what gear may or may not be in a car. If it's loud and sounds good, that should be deemed SQL. The how's and why's aren't really relevant here. If a person wants to enter SPL and SQ comps, they will have more challenges then a person who wants to try just one event. But just because it's hard to make a good SQL car shouldn't keeps anyone from knowing it's possible. Maybe you simply haven't met the right installers or DIYer's yet? With just a few switches and buttons, you can make a car sound totally different. Local SPL shows are still fairly easy to enter and do well in. No guarantee's on winning anything, but to doing well in both really isn't a difficult task. I make as few compromises in my SQ as my budget will allow. My sound quality settings are certainly not going to win me any SPL shows, but I can still hit 140DB+ if I want to (subs only).

If you did that you would be in a higher SPL class. Unless you take your extra sub out. Might be too much work for some when they want to enjoy a show. But that would work.

I was a Winning IASCA Competitor with multiple wins at big events, my system sounded incredible and I had (3) JL 10" subs, with the subs turned down (way down) it was a SQ car with the subs turnded up it would hit 145's on the old AC meter thats about 139 on the TL I think thats about as loud as you can get with a SQL setup, any louder would have required a different box and would have ruined the SQ.

I would think more like 141db maybe. Very respectable score.

That's a good score for sure for SQ but people now a days that I meet that want to do SQL are doing it to compete in SQ and SPL and most don't have the same knowledge you do. But even with your setup you would not win any SPL competitions with 3 10".

I think I was mistaken in my first post and didn't make it quite clear what I meant by SQL. SQL, to me, and to a lot of other people asking for SQL subs means a 12" or 2x12" that they can do to compete in (or call SQ) but at the same time get 140+ db and compete in SPL. You can have a loud system that does great SQ. Just get large surface areas and focus on SQ, SPL will come naturally since the subs are big but you will not win the SPL competitions for your classes. Most people aren't asking this, most people are asking how can I do 140+ db wit 1 12" sub but have it be SQ and compete in SQ.

I know it'd be difficult to actually measure this, but what setup would you go with for listening to rap, rock, and techno? I've got a sunflower GT with stock electrical. Deck is a Pioneer 7" flip/touch-screen that was mad expensive lol, I have an 05 RE XXX 12 and a 1500W amp (need a box), and 2 Eclipse SW8200's in a sealed box. They get damn loud & low, but with the amp I have they only get 375W of 670W each that they require (and have an 81dB efficiency, fairly low?), but they have as much if not more excursion as the XXX, gotta love that LMT! So, does twice the cone area & similiar excursion more than make up for the difference of 1 ported 12 with a 6dB higher efficiency and +300W? I listened to the XXX in a sealed box on 1500W, and it wasn't as loud as the Eclipses, but the box has a small air leak, I think it messed with the tuning freq. I'd rather buy a $100 box and use 1 good driver than spend big dollas on an amp to power the Eclipses, god damned SVC 4ohm. I've considered using 4 sealed Eclipse 12's but I can't afford 3000W with stock electrical, I don't know if I'd have the space but 2 fit just fine, and it would probably make the rear end sag pretty bad. WTF would you do?
