Tom, you could install a set of Utopia's upside down, in the trunk of a 1991 Caprice and they'd still image perfect. Pffft...Install

I've got the TN-51s in the car again. X.O is set at 5khz with -3 db of EQ from 20khz down to 12khz and 10khz -2db down.
The key to making them work in my application was the angling and placement. I used lots of duct tape to place them everywhere I could think of. Here is where they ended up:
I did some RTA work with the tweeters, they are actually really flat out to 20khz where they are mounted. But...I found them too harsh so I EQed them down a bit as described above.

I'll post the whole shebang!
Subs: 25hz-50hz
Midbass: 50hz-200hz
Midrange: 200hz-5khz
Tweeter: 5khz-20khz
I varied the tweeter/midrange X.O. points from 2khz up to 6.3khz. What I found, was that a car is very sensitive to forward or backward seat possitions with kick mounted mids.
My wife drives with the driver seat very close to the steering wheel. This blocks the driver's side midbass with her legs somewhat, the effect is slightly muffled sound for both the driver and passenger. I found that running the midranges up above 5khz caused this muffled sound, as the legs blocked these frequencies well. Running the tweeters below 5khz in my car caused a lot of localization. In general, the TN-51 tweeter is pretty harsh below 5khz as well.
Compromise!
Everyone in this hobby makes compromises weather they are concious of it or not. My compromise is to have good sound for multiple passengers, with the seats in a variety of possitions. This is the real world for me, not a competition vehicle. My wife's enjoyment and approval of my system is what justifies all the money she allows me to spend on it.
I am still very interested in trying out the DLS UR-1 tweeters in my car. I don't believe that the TN-51 is the best sounding tweeter for my application. I am a firm believer in getting the sound right without using massive amounts of EQ.

Has anyone on here heard the CDT Audio HD62-ST component set with the 1 inch silk dome tweeters?
I bought a set but have not yet installed them. However reading all the posts in this thread, I wonder if I should even bother installing them as nobody on here has even talked about them.
Adam, what speakers are you running for your midbass, midrange and subs?
I finally pulled the plug and got the P9 combo and got the CDT audio HD-62ST with the 1 inch silk dome tweeters plus I am considering getting a single Focal Utopia 33WX 13 inch sub (ported enclosure) for my upcoming SQ system.
My intention at the outset is to compete so I want to keep it as simple as possible, but sufficiently high-end so that I am not changing drivers in a couple of months.
The WAF (wife approval factor) will not be very high for changing stuff again in a couple of months!
