Notice how this little ditty above is called the "Dawg". Pictures of thee awesome ported door pods and pictures of the RTA showing how much better the response is versus IB would be so cool.

Tom, I'm going to rebuild my doors! Then I'll post a picture of my wife's response, accompanied by my sore ***.

How's that for Real Time Analysis!

so IB means there is unlimited air behind the driver?

sealing off your door pannels creats a limited amount of air behind the driver does it not, so you are basicaly putting the speaker in a funny shaped sealed box?

Well, a door leaks like crazy. So if you want to get technical, it's not truly an IB. Drain holes, seal where window slides up and down, etc, etc. So it's more like a leaky sealed box, or a vented box with a zillion different crazy short ports of various sizes!! The volume inside the door is usually more then the ideal volume for a sealed driver as well............ although if you're dropping some 6.5" or 8" in one of those thin doors, I'm not so sure anymore.

It's thought of as IB since you're suppost to seal the door up such that the back wave off the speaker has zero possibilities of getting around to connect with the front wave. Just like when you're running IB in your trunk. Not truly IB, but more like a really big leaky sealed box. Anyways, long story short is that rarely is anything in a car is straight forward by the book. So things get identified in certain ways that are not 100% techincally true........ but the "flavour" is generally there.

^ also tom forgot to mention that its the size of the door that makes it IB as opposed to sealed. Its generally considered that any enclosure equal to or greater then 3x the vas of the driver, is IB, instead of sealed.
