hmmm - interestingly, over the years I don't recall there ever being an argument about what tweeter magnet material was superior. Especially for sound quality.

I vote neodymium for the sole advantage that it takes less mass of neo to perform like more common magnet materials, and therefore the tweeter can be smaller in size.

I vote Scan Speak Revelators. People, please feel free to add your dozens of others lol. Another potentially longest thread of the year, which could have been avoided, if the the starter just utilized Google.

I have used google, I currently have Titanium tweeters which I was getting excellent high's from but they blew too fast so I was reading about the NEODYMIUM tweeters but they are not that expensive so I was wondering if there is something better out there.

i dont think a magnet type would have any impact (but may have ) on the way it sounds.

it's about the type of dome that tweeter has, ie silk, alum other that may affect how it sounds. but overall it's the whole package that should be well thought out... freq response and distortion... eemm.

the point is you are asking the wrong question.

basically you probably want a tweet that you can torture more.

give us more.

what is the brand of the tweet that you've used? what power did you have on it? cross over point?...

i have a hard time imagining blowing up my tweeters. maybe im just listening on the side. .

CHROME Q POWER MODEL QT2 300 WATT
Frequency response is 5KHz a 20KHz, Sensitivity is 100db (2.83V/1M), Crossover frequency is 5 KHz with internal crossover, Crossover Slope is 18db/ Octave, Sound Dispersion 90, Weight 20g. Impedance is 4 Ohms. 80 Watt RMS each or 300 Watts Max each. Size is 1 ½ inch round by ¾ inch deep........
The magnet definately does make a difference, I bought $20 bucks tweeters from the stereo shops and they sounded pretty good but then when I put these titanium ones in your heard the nice tingle in it... even when the volume wasnt up.

Titanium is the dome materiel, not the magnet. You are confused.

There is no best magnet as it depends on the application. Like dukk said, if you want smaller then you go neo.

For the dome material, in general it can be broken up in 2 types, metal and fabric.

Usually, metal will be brighter and material will be more layed back.

Both can be made expensive or cheep depending on the design.

As stated in post directly above yours, in all depends on your ears. Do you like your tweeters bright or a little bit softer? Metal domes are a little harsher and brighter sounding than fabric. You are the only person on the planet that can answer that question.
