Help with install please
Hey guys, I just bought a Clarion deck, the model number is DXZ765MP. The car I drive is a 93 mercury topaz. I have no experience with this kind of thing. I you guys could explain to me how to install my deck, that would be fantastic. Also, explaining how to take out the old one as well. One more thing, I also got a wiring harness for it too. Thanks.

A clarion deck install should be pretty straight forward, especially if you have the wiring harness made for your car.
You'll need a dash install kit, from canadian tire or wallmart. Or you might find a better fit from you local car audio install store.
I'm not familiar with that dash, but thats never slowed me down before.... You just keep removing the screws and trim till you have the deck out.
Hook up the new one according to the manual.
You didn't say whether you got new speakers as well? The 13 yr old factory speakers won't sound any better because you got a new deck.

A little bit of an update.
I finally got my old deck out, but I have no idea what to do with the wiring harness, the wires on the harness say what they're used for, but the wires that come with the deck have nothing on them. The instructions say what the wires are used for, it says like the first red is used for X, but theres like 3 reds, so I have no idea what which is the first, etc. Maybe I'll just get a friend to install it. Thought I could figure it out, but its alot harder than i though.

topaz install info .
Listen to me buddy,
I had my 1988 Topaz XR5 done up.
Start with new wireing just leave the exising wiring in there should you
ever go back to the stock set up.(usually when you sell the car).
Anyway I had a single din deck in mine, I upgraded the door speakers to 6 inch kickers, I installed tweeters in the door pillars which sounded perfect.
Then I installed 4 kicker 8's in a box on the back deck and to top it off I installed 4 kicker 12's behind the seats free air.
It was fantastic.
I powered everything with some old school Zapco Z300's for the 8's and one for the 12's (originally 2 kickers 15's free airs) also ran a zapco z150 for the front end which was well enough.
I also had eqt's epicenter and a esp-2.
Two marine batteries in the trunk with a cd changer also in the trunk.
You don't have to go to this extreme but understand that you can do lots in that car and until you go into the trunk it can look all stock.
good luck with your install.
