install question?
my deck has two preouts i guess one for front and one for rear, so which type of amp would i use to hookup to a sub???
i am thinking about getting one good 12" or two decent 10" let me know thanks???
P.S. if say my sub was 400w rms - does that mean i have to have at least 400w rms amp or would like 300w do?? i am finding amps to be pretty expensive compared to the subs they have to run???
thanks for reading...

You can underpower a sub all day long and not damage it provided you allow the sub to cool. Do not play it for extended periods at full output. Also ensure that the gain is set properly on the amp so as to keep a clipped signal from being sent to the sub which causes a whole pile of extra heat. You can use pretty much any type of amp for a sub, what is important is that the sub(s) and amp are matched together properly. As you cd player does not have a dedicated sub output, I would be looking for a amp that has a subwoofer level control included with it.
