i have a saturn and with my car the doors arent really sealed... since the skeleton of the door and outer door skin are physically 2 separate pieces that dont seal when they are attached together... this is where i run into a problem... i ran my cdt components this winter and i noticed that they sounded off for the 1st 10 minutes when it was cold or snowing... i know this isnt good to say the least... so im trying to figure out a way to fix this without too much work...

the one quick solution that i can come up with is foam baffles... crutchfield is the one place that i know that carries them... i put a set in my bros car with his boston pros and am not happy with the way they sound... the baffle was a little small so the baffle is streched a little over the magnet of the speaker... this isnt good sound wise since they arent getting enough air space... i dont wanna have this problem with my set since i care about the midbass from them...

is there anything else i can do short of making a custom fibreglass enclosure within the doors?

Many have had door builds to give more volume for the aftermarket speaker by building into the passenger compartment. This is not inexpensive.
Sealing up the door itself would be interesting and less expensive, expanding foam (caution it can bend sheet metal and composites), spray sealer (3M), stuff wadding material into big air gaps. Typically a lot of cars allow water to slide down the door glass and into the internal door cavity when it rains, they have holes in the bottom of the door to allow the moisture to run out and not pool up and rust the door. This is one of the reasons there is a plastic membrane across most door skins to keep moisture/ humidity/ funk out of the passenger compartment. So there is a risk here if you seal it up too well.
I think the profesional installers would have interesting answers to this Q.
