Many a people, myself included have thanked the heavens above for this fix after many hours of diagnosis to no avail. In my case the problem did not show up until I added my second amp...just like you.
WTF??? lol, I had 4 amps hooked up at one time and never had any problems with alt noise on my Pioneer deck. Only the weak *** factory ground wire noise. That was all. Maybe I got lucky. I've had it installed in 3 vehicles now with no noise problems.

Electricsmooth - recheck your ground connections, then try another location. If you have both grounds connected together maybe try separating them...

I had my deck for 2 years and three vehicles before the problem started. Not all pioneer decks are affected. The problem lies with an internal fuse for the RCA's that blows. Some may never have the problem, others will.

Ok so I had some time today to try to diagnose the problem. I removed the ground wire for the 2ch amp (powering the subs) and the hum magically diappeared from all of the other speakers (powered by 4ch amp). The ground cables are very near each other. Would this make a difference? I was thinking of moving one of the grounds to another part of the truck. Would this eliminate the problem? I'm asking before I actually try it because It is gonna take some work to free that cable.

Also, I asked this earlier as well but could the fact that the ground cables being a different gauge make any difference (4gauge and 8 gauge)?

Do you think I may have a ground loop? If so, how do I get rid of it?

thanks

Maybe run a separate run of ground cable from the front battery to your back battery.if you do not have a back battery then run that run of 0 gauge or 4 gauge to a distributer block.you could have a bad ground in back or you have a open ground on your rca or sub output of your rca is blown?try wrapping sum speaker wire and grounding the outside of your rca outputs to something metal.

ALWAYS use the same power and ground size for amps. If the amp will take 4ga then both power and ground should be done in 4ga. This will help A LOT for your 2ch if you currently are using 8ga for the ground. If switching to the appropriate sized wire didn't fix the cause then move the ground of the 2ch. Grounds should be kept to less than 8"-12" where ever possible.

Good luck, glad you've been able to locate the cause of the noise entering the system.

Thanks. I'll buy a couple of feet of 4 gauge and hopefully this will do the trick
