I was going 11 over. He showed it to me on the lydar. However, I was NOT the fastest in the stream of 40 or so cars in the three lanes.

After talking to him about the accuracy issues of the lydar systems, he knew I wasnt an idiot. I think thats why he dropped it.

Chris, you're right. Racial profiling is rampid and unconstitutional. THIS cop did not ask if I had drugs, that was other occasions. I brought it up in an attempt to show that this cop was the lesser of evils.

The issue was that I have never seen a 5 over ticket before and no one I know has either. I always thought that 10 was the minimum to be TICKETED for. However, I am beginning to think that 5 over is a signal to a judge that I was probably between 5-10 over, and it was a reduction. 5 over should just be a fine.

5km/h Speed ticket

Technically... 5km/h over IS speeding, it's a SPEED LIMIT, you don't HAVE to be able to do 60km in a 60km zone, you can do 55, then your 5 "over" won't put you over the LIMIT

Get a receipt backdated for a set of tires of a larger diameter and blame it on that.
That could easily do it, hey its an argument anyhow. But seriously cant see an insurance company givin it to ya dry for that(they will use some ky) lol.
Possibly the cop that gave ya that idiotic fine to begin with has a wife that happens to own a strapon an his tailbone got a little bruised the night before?
Some cops are just dicks, and some of us poor folks happen to bump into em.

LOL.

Yea technically I WAS speeding. But I will get to the grey area in a second.

92ZED34, that wont hold up in court. Modifying a car is my own decision, bigger rims means that I would have to uphold everything that comes with it, meaning correcting my ECU to compensate for those rims. The court would see it as my own negligence, and uohold the ticket.

Now if you want to get technical, I have built a lydar system myself. they are only 97% effective because they are pretty much based on the Doppler effect, and the coding within the machine is minimal. Cops think they are 100% fool proof, this is not true.
Combine that with the ~96% accuracy of my spedometer, you get an overall effectiveness of 93%. Multiply that by the speed, and that should be the gray area. At 60 km/h, this is +-5km/h. This is why they withhold the radar/lydar manuals from us. You can preech the freedom of information act and get it, but not to keep. You are allowed to see it in the presence of guards, thats all.

Cruise control cant even keep speed to within 2km/h.

Anyhow, I took it to Ontario Traffic Tickets. 200 bucks is far less than my insurance would cost me over 3 years. Turns out the guy I spoke to knows the guy who gave me the ticket. Assuming he's telling the truth, I have a good feeling.

u could have won this all on your own and kept the $200. all you'd have do is say that you are a poor, poor student and cant afford to have this on your insurance.

That sucks that you got a ticket for 5 over, thats pretty lame. Around my area cops only ticket for speeds over 15 km/h as anything less is a waste of time unless they are very bored. Glad you just paid it off, nothing much else you could of done.
