Hey I just have a quick Q.
What makes a good earphone, and what makes certain models worth anywhere from 500-5000?
I know nothing about this but was just having a conversation with a buddy and I realized I have absolutley no idea what makes these things tick/ why good ones cost so much.
Thanks guys.

Good ones cost more because they have been designed with the ears natural resonance in mind.

I make custom molded earplugs using sennheiser MX 500 earphones for under $200. And the sound quality is phenomanal with surprinsingly acurate bass response (for earphones that is).

For more info check out your local hearing clinic.

and you have to look, are these the ones that have multiple cones in each ear? some high-end ones are able to reproduce surround accurately because there are as many as 4 cones an ear
