I am happy to see they've given provisions in the ban for show dogs however.
I agree as well with what Gilligan said.
Take a test, kinda like adopting a child....have people come check out your house and take a test or something.
Ok, a majority of crimes come from black people in North America...not being racist, just stating the statistics....so should the government ban black people from society? That's called segregation....and it's happening to dogs now.
Most people own pitbulls because they seen them on some stupid rap video and think it's cool to have one, so they dress them up to look scary, with the studded collars and harnesses and stuff, then they neglect the dogs and they become vicious. Any dog can be vicious given the right circumstances, I know of Rottwillers that are vicious and have heard of them attacking, but you don't see anyone putting up a stink about them, same with German/King sheppards and Doberman's
Anything we can do to eliminate the ban? Or should I just find another dog?

Guns can be used reponsibly and they can inflict great harm. The same can be said for ANY dog.
Dogs being mistreated and raised violently are not being properly handled. The dog owner is responsible, not the dog. The dog owner should be punished not the dog.
It is not the fault of the breed it is the fault of the breeder. If my shepard hurts anyone it is either my fault for not controlling my dog or their fault for instigating it. IT IS NOT THE DOGS FAULT. They don't know any better. They do not choose to attack - they attack because they are either scared, provoked, sick, hurt, or trained to do so.
These are animals we are talking about. If you choose to bring one into your home you accept the reponsibilities that go along with it. This is the same for owners of Pit Bulls, Rotties, Shepards, Beagles, Poodles etc.
I agree with what people here are saying that the owner should be responsible for what their dog does, but that isnt always possible. I used to have a golden retriever who was probably the nicest dog a person could have. Our family cared for her very well as we do all our pets, and she showed no aggression at all towards people or any other dogs like 99% of the time.
But sometimes another dog would just set her off and she would go nuts. There was nothing at all that we as owners did do cause something like it. It just seemed to be in her blood. All the rest of the time she was extremely laid back and gentle. Maybe like Furley mentioned it might have been something at the breeders that caused this before we got her.
But when you face the facts, I dont think any owner can have 100% control over their dog, no matter what the breed is. They still are animals and anything can set them off the wrong way.

Good luck man.
So since it's illegal, I'll just get one anyway
I'll "forget" to register it, and no-one will be the wiser.

Also very well put. Maybe then the govt should require that all breeders (of all breeds) aquire an FAC type document to even breed in this country. I am down for that!
Socialization is key, but sh*t can happen. In those situations it should not take a whole lot of investigation into how much accountability falls on the owner/breeder.
This has taken years to get this phucked up, and it would take years to fix. The APBT breed is what I am refering to....

JMO, but I think VERY harsh laws should be put in place for breeders/dog owners rather than a particular breed of dog.
Back to what Haunz said... "The whole thing is so friggn stupid it boggles the mind..."
