What type of motor oil do you all use?
regular pennzoil 5w30 every 4000k. Just did an engine flush and it was great. My mechanic does it for me, just adds 2 small caps brake cleaner fluid into the oil filler and runs the car for 5 minutes before doing the oil change. Just a small tip for those who do their own oil changes.

I use whatever 20w50 is available.
It seems all the magazines have been doing articles on oil lately.
1. You can switch from conventional to synthetic with no problems on all engines.
2. Synthetic is good on high performance motors as they generally run hotter and synthetic will retain it's lubricating properties better in those high heat situations.
3. Synthetics have shown to actually increase hp in some cases as the oil isn't as thick for the same viscosity as conventionals, thus reduce parasitc loss as the internals move through the oil.
There waas a great article in VW Trends that broke down basically every number (the ones you normally didn't see) and from what I saw the Redline 10-40 was basically the best over all for performance engines.

Mobil 1 SuperSyn 10w30 for me, I change my oil the last weekend of every month no matter how many km's I put on, I figure the extra $30-$40/month will be worth it when I get 300,000km's out of my car.
I also use a motor flush every 3 months to clean all the crap out of everywhere.

least u dont drive the ferarri enzo... apparently if u use any other oil in the thing besides the factory specific stuff, (750$ an oil change) u void the warranty on the engine...... that and the fuel economy on the car sucks... ud have to fill up like 6 times from calgary to edmonton.....
food for thought...

well I change my oil every 12,000 km cause that's what it says in my owners manual
my mom changes her's every 15,000km cuase that's what her owners manual says ..........also her car came with synthetic from the factory and that's what the owners manual calls for
my dad changes his once a year
........ but he has 380,000 km and still runs like a top so that must work with synthetic

My whole family has used 20w50 for years. The high performance engines needed it like the BOSS 302 that was in my dad's 73' Mustang and the LT-1 that was in the 78' Malibu.
The normal street cars like it too, I used to run it in the Volvo and the Explorer.
Then we found out about the Lucas oil additive. So we use that with every oil change now.
