Where is the proof that these problems you guys speak of occur?????????? Not one actual occurrance I bet! And if there was a case of airbags goin off, it would happen during installation when a dumbass installer nicked one of the airbag wires or spliced into one. On the 2000+ cav/sunfire, you are also missing a switched wire. Tap into the wiper fuse for this, and everything works perfect except no chimes!! Why do you think there is a new kit out from Metra that doesn't force you to relocate the deck? It's because they know there is NO problem in using a regular harness. The new kit merely uses a few relays to add the chimes back, and the parts to achieve this can be bought at Radio Shack for like $20.

Have you ever dealt with a 'factory trained professional' service person? They are moronic. There indeed HAVE been people who have had hassel by merely adding a deck and amp or a set of fog lights to a car. Factory servicemen will blame non factory parts immediately. They know no better.
After the factory trained moron replaced my fuel pump for the 4th time in my Z34 they discovered the problem was a faulty oil presusre sensor. You tell me how the two are related.. [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img] They had no idea either [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] They never could find why the alternator died 3 times either, once a week after a new one went in. I had the car for 6 years and never put a radio even into it until after the warranty expired. THAT is a modern trained monkey.
Now you have a car that DOES have a radio with some sort of connection to the computer. It may do nothing. It probably does do nothing. Remove that radio though and you can damn well bet some factory trained moron is gonna give you grief over it for the sole reason that he has no idea if the problem you are in there for (I like to call it 'spontaneous GM breakage') could possibly be the fault of your removing the radio or not. BUT they know you removed it so they will blame it.
The problem is not the car - it is the dumbass behind the counter.

reminds me of the time my brake lights didn't work .......service guy saw my "huge" 4 gauge power wire and 100 amp fuse ........he refused to even look at any electrical problem in my truck untill I removed "that aftermarket stereo crap"
told me I'd probably find all my electrical problems were gone when I put the factory radio back in .............now I've learned the hard way there is no use talking to these people becuase they are trained profesionals and they know best
so I put the factory stuff back in .......brake lights still didn't work ......turned out to be the brake light switch .........go figure
on that note a relocated factory radio woudn't have satisfied the genius I was dealing with so I don't see where it matters how you put the radio in as long as you remember you may have to pull it out when you take the car in for warrenty work
BTW I had the same genious tell my my shocks couldn't possibly be shot in my truck cause it was too new ........I told him ":but it has 50,00km on it most of that on a crappy gravel road".........he said that doesn't matter it's an 01 it's too new to need shocks already .........next dealer I took it to road in it for 2 minutes and then I got new shocks [img]smile.gif[/img]

Offering a kit like this for the cav/sunfire makes sense, and is good business for them because they are using a single product for several different applications.

I guess if something where to happen at the time of install, when I disconnected my stock radio and turned on the car nothing happend no lights came on etc, everything seemed fine and I left it on for about 20 min or soo to see if a engine light or something would trigger and nothing did... sooo we shall see I will put in the aftermarket deck then take it to the shop and have it read to see if any computer codes show up....
