Here here James!! I agree.
Let's not forget the smaller shops seem to keep their employees happy, unlike corporate america big boxes to whom you're just a number and a bottom line.
I agree compltely. The "niche" market shops are the way this industry is going to go towards soon.

Here is my two cents.
Big Box companys will always prevail due to Customers want to feel secure.
Smaller Shops will always offer the Best Customer Service since they rely on Clients, not Customers.
It is our job to educate the Big Box Companys into this way of thinking.
We all have dreams right???

It's not the Shop...
It's the People that make it a Great Place To Work.
Treat Staff with respect and fairness and they will WANT to come to work and give it their all.
Treat Staff like Crap, that is what kind of effort you will get back.
Simply put:
R.O.I.C
Return On Ivested Capital.

the atmosphere created by the employer is critical to keeping employees, not getting paid on time is disgusting, perhaps the most irresponisble thing an employer can do, it is without a doubt easier to try to properly train just a few guys that it is to try to train a few hundered guy. the future shop, i think has set an example for other bix box stores, they went out, got some guys with skill and integrity, and managed to keep them. good for them, i thnk it has gone a long way in creating a much better image for them, heck there was even a time a few years back that i thought id love to just be able to stand out on the floor and just sel(at the shop), no managment duties, paperwork, motivational talks, etc, just sell. i cant remember why i didnt, but i am very happy where i'm at, sounds like were all one bunch of happy guys, cept for tinted
Well, since I posted a rant on another thread, I'll post here
I generally feel, as a consumer, that some things have changed and some haven't. Some things that have changed have as a result of technology.
Pricing is better, I don't need to go to eBay as much, which is good for all of us. I also think dealers are realizing, like it or not, they are in competition with eBay, they can't make the ridiculous margins they used to make on people who didn't know any better.
Some dealers, esp. the ones I have dealt with in the GTA lately, are very helpful and very easy to work with, and I think this may be an emerging trend in other areas as well. Not pushy at all, because they realize customers are more informed now I think. And again, they want return business, they can no longer say that they are the only game in town. The internet is everywhere.
What's not changed is that a lot of dealers still think whatever they sell is the best out there. If they deal Alpine, its the best, Rockford, its the best, etc. I would be genuinely surprised to get honest feedback from a dealer on a product unless they dealt everything. Fortunately I know my ****, and do my research. I recommend ANYONE do this before seeing a dealer so they have the ability to filter out the mixed messages they may hear.
I think the internet has changed car audio a lot over the last 5 years. Now it's not just propeller heads like me using it all the time for everything, everyone is. And therefore everyone is a lot better informed.
However the internet is also a breeding ground for bull****, and the consumer has to know how to use this tool effectively. Don't believe everything you hear. Everyone has their own idea of what is great (someone actually put Rockford amps in the same class as Brax and Tru the other day, lol). Keep in mind that what most people think is great is only that way because it is the only thing they have heard. Find the experts and get their advice, but don't take their word for it, it's always good to try something yourself and hear it yourself, you'll know what you like. I just went through 3 months of research for a front stage setup and I would say 90% of it was weeding through all the mixed messages off the web. Eventually I just went and heard the gear after gathering up all kinds of info and I made the right choice, and am pleased with the results.
Of the dealers I have dealt with so far, a few of which I believe are on this board, I have had a great experience. There are some who will be getting my return business regardless of what the internet going rate is for gear.
I had a similar statement on another post I did recently.
