I wish Jr. would have let me do that. Oh well, I got to move to the Island and build up two of my own stores, party time.

It seems that Rockford has already started to grow their dealer business. (actually I already knew this)
MR2NR and OLD ONE EYE -- thank-you for your objective and open minded comments; however, I would like to bring to light a conversation I had last fall with RTTI (Rockford Tech Support) regarding the Nissan OEM "Rockford" system. The best analogy I can make is when you could buy GEO Storms with "handling by Lotus" -- Lotus engineered improvement to the suspension and undercarrage of the vehicle; however, they did not actually manufacture the parts. Likewise, Nissan gives Rockford a budget and some design parameters and then Rockford does the research, designs the products and then has the products manufactured in the orient. So, for example the amplifier is designed to run at 1/2 ohm (!) but is limited to about 30W RMS! The purpose of all this is to benefit Nissan and Rockford in a symbiotic relationship which benefits both parties. To sum up -- Rockford uses Rockford facilities to produce "Rockford" aftermarket amps: Rockford does not OEM manufacture amps or speakers for other Brands/Companies in either Tempe or Grand Rapids.

I'm pretty sure I didn't prove your point. Look at the radio:

Now look at the tag that he took a picture of:

If you squint, you can see it says Electronica Clarion SA de CV (basically Clarion Electronics Inc). That's a Clarion badged as a Rockford.

The image of the speaker above says Clarion too. It's all about branding.

Here is another auction:

Same badges, very similar radio (the Sentra radio is the same radio with a different bezel than a regular radio).

I have seen the RF/Nissan amps being built with my own two eyes in the facilities in Tempe when I was given a factory tour in Summer of 2003. It is seperate from the regular amp production line, but the same building. They even have special amp shipping containers for those amps.

As for the rest, its Clarion.

Mike has once again shed a little more light on the situation. I was not trying to start any kind of pissing contest with anyone, especially you OldOneEye. What I intended to show was that manufacturers are always looking out for new avenues of production. In this case it has been adequately demonstrated that both Rockford and Clarion do in fact have another avenue of business that most people are not aware of. This avenue of business is infact growing larger every year which again sends the $ to the manufacturer and not into the retailer. For as much as we know how crappy a "BOSE" system really is, the consumer might actually like it. The same goes for the Rockford / Clarion systems. Sure we might replace the occasional one, but the vast majority of them do not get changed and or upgraded.

No offence to the commission guys, and especially to those that are actually highly capable and knowlegeable salespeople as well. I am one of those people and did enjoy the benefits that commission sales offered. I do agree with you Dukk and I was going to reword what I wrote but decided to let it fly and see what happened. Maybe I have a narrow point of view as it applies in my direct marketplace but my view of the industry is most certainly different.
