Went to a stereo shop in Scarborough.
Me: I was thing of some DLS amps.
Shop Manager: "Never heard of them"
Me: I'm considering Hybird speakers.
Shop Manager:"Hybrid speakers, who makes them?"
Oh yea guy at a show told me "You should buy Kicker speakers. They're the best cause they're the loudest".

Problem is the bad shops give the industry as a whole a bad name, which reflects on the shops that actually DO know what they're doing and service the customer properly. There are more "crappy" shop than ones that have a solid reputation.
I've been trying for a while to talk the car club i'm in to have a stereo shop come on board as a sponsor. Just so the club members can have a place that is reputable to do their installs. Which or course s out as the members tell their friends, etc.
As soon as I rebuild my engine, replace my tranny, fix my rear and tune my car I'll be back looking for a shop to supply some tunes.

I've always believed that damping factor was an important figure. Recently I was on a forum chattin with Larry Fredricks (yes..that Larry Fredricks..Original P.G guy.) and he was saying damping factor dropps off when an amp is under load...So damping factor isnt realy a great measurement..
Its wierd..but comming from one of our industries smartest cats,,there must be some truth.

only "effective" Damping factor counts....
the higher the effective damping the tighter and more controlled
the power becomes..the end result is tighter kickdrums ,more definition
between notes and less noise in between them
the only way to ensure total control over a speaker cone is with the aid
of an effective servo system
