Nothing much in the durham region either. There's only a few guy's i know still into it and 2 of us have added children to the mix so the stereo has to be limited a little.

 

Wow, I must have been performing a public service because I use to bass it every where I'd go. I remember being frustrated on the 401 some days, in traffic, I'd let that rip.

Yonge, Bayview, Leslie, Don Mills, Victoria Park, Kennedy ...
Steeles, Finch, Sheppard, York Mills, Lawrence, Eglinton ...

My neighbours didn't know I had any car audio equipment in my vehicle until I showed them. I don't play it in my neighbourhood. I turn it down at stoplights as well.

I mean, you gotta realize that this is a car stereo, it's meant to be within the car, so the majority are basing this on "Who you hear in your neighbourhood" which isn't the most accurate thing. Doesn't take into account those who have high end equipment who just listen to it at moderate levels.

In Toronto, yeah ... I'd say a lot of people are "into" this ... I hear a lot of cars in the summer, generally young-er people, blasting whatever they've got.

problem with car audio is you have enthusiasts and you have wanna-be's. those who understand the product, do there own work, and have general knowledge about car audio, i enjoy talking with. those who believe that cranking gains on your amp is 'cool' i can't stand.

its like that with cars too. there are those who understand how to build quick cars, and others who think an ebay cold air intake gains 15hp...

unfortunately, the general public believes use with 'loud systems' are a pain in the *** because of certain people who 'abuse' there systems. same goes with people who drive hondas/acuras....

there will always be stereotypes within car audio

What does it matter if the sound stays in the car? Just because it originates from the car doesn't mean it should be only heard within the car at all times. Thats like saying that all cars should be limited to 100 k/h because thats the fastest we're allowed to go legally. But it is true that we are assuming the only ones with anything in their car are the ones we can hear, so I'll give you that.

 

Not as huge it used to be a few summers ago in downtown toronto,I probably hear bass every other day

Honestly, I even get annoyed by the douches blasting their gino beats or pop rap.

When I had my system going, I wouldn't just blast rap songs to "show off". I Blast some Metal, Country, Reggae, and whatever else I felt like listening to. Cruising around with the Tom Petty cranked brings back some memories.

Some people get bothered by loud music, sure, but they're the ones pissing everyone else off when they're driving 40 in a 50. You can't please everyone, and chances are you're only going to hear that "loud" car for the duration of light, anyways.

 

Im From good ole' London ont, and from what i have seen/heard there isn't a whole lot of decent systems around here. but then again, i am new at this so maybe once i open my eyes to this world i'll see whats out there.

If anyone in the london area knows of a competition or show let me know. i would love to check that out. see what the high dollar systems put out

 

but gino beats and pop rap is music as well. you cant just say they are showing it off. they are just listening to it the same way u are.

 

There is ALOT in durham, its just not many want to take the time and learn, they just go to cash converters and futureshit and have stuff installed.

Me and my team tried to help locals get more into it and learn, but most are to ignorant to even listen for 2 minutes, cuz there the best.

If i remmeber right, theres 10-15 cars in oshawa doing "170 deebees", and in reality most cant even crack a 140, the odd 141-142.

IMO, the scene is dead, if the people were actually interested and tried to better themselves, it would be thriving, but were not that lucky out this way.

 

True enough, but I've driven with people that will throw a popular song on and crank their till the speakers shart cause they think it's cool.

Not everybody is like that. I'm more than willing to admit I know nothing, and I've even helped my buddy do a couple of his installs.

I'm actually taking a part time electrical course right now to set me on the right track (not the main reason I'm taking the course, but one of my main motivators to do well in it).

I've also got experience in woodworking and running CNC's. I would love to get into car audio heavily (installations, building enclosures, etc) but unfortunately I don't have the money to do it.
