A few questions on my system build.....insight welcome
I'm putting a system in my 95 crown vic interceptor......
My goal is for the system to give me top of the line sound quality and more than enough power....but not to an obscene level (it is to be listened to in the car)...mainly
Also im doing this as cheaply as possible in the range of what i deem to be acceptable quality
ok so it will be a 4 speaker, one sub, one amp system (will be replacing factory speakers with same sizes in same locations)
Sub - 15" Polk mm1540 svc, 4ohm, 425rms, frequency response: 18-150 Hz, sensitivity: 93 dB
Front door - Infinity kappa 682.9CF 2-Way 6 x 8 (2ohm) 100rms, freq responce 40 - 25000 Hz, sensitivity 94db
Rear deck - Infinity Kappa 693.9I 3-Way 6 x 9 (2ohm) 110rms, freq responce 35 - 30000 Hz, sensitivity 96db
Head unit - Sony CDX-GS500R (dont knock it lol this one has 3 sets of 5 volt preamps and i love all there sound altering features)
Amp - ...now this is where i have my first question im torn between two ...i will list both but my question lies in if 75rms to each speaker will just be too loud to enjoy if any1 can help on thatalso if the slight "best freq responce " difference listed on crutchfeild will mean the more powerfull one wont send subsonic tones to my sub? but anyway they are
Kenwood KAC-7005PS which i would use as 4 x 50rms @2ohms +1x 300rms @4ohms $190(yes they can be used this way they are both 3 seperate amps in one)
or the kennwood eXeclon XR900-5 which i would use as 4x75rms @2ohms + 1x400rms @4ohms $270
also is there a difference in what guage power wire i should use and what amp the in-line should be between the too?
also will a cap be necessary? cuz i was always pretty much under the assumption they are borderline useless and im hoping being an interceptor my car might have a beefier alternator? anybody know for sure?
and a seperate but equally important question....im looking for some1 who has owned the mm1540 to tell me straight up if it will distort in a sealed box (assuming all the gain **** is at zero of course)
also any1 with crown vic system experience gimmie an idea of how much power is tolerable in the cab and how well u can hear the sub(s)
thanks to all brave enough to read this far hope u guys can give me some answers
