Ive had my stereo installed in my cat for a couple of months now. it consists of a 15" XXX..db drive 1200, cdt 6.5" speakers and a db 290 powering them. Im runnin 4 guage from the battery to the amps. Now... i have not noticed any problems from this stereo at all but tonight i played a VERY bassy song, and before the bass would play the amp for the subs would go into protect for a split second and then go back to normal.. and every time heavy heavy bass was gonna play it did this. what do you think could be the problem? thanks guys

Did it happen after a few minutes of playing? you probly drew the battery down far enough that you were getting voltage drop on the bass hits, causing the amp to go into low voltage shutdown for a second, then when the alternator got enough voltage out, it turned back on. Usually when amps go into protect mode, they need to be shut down completely before they restart.

get a new battery and a bigger alternator when you can afford it.

Double check that your grounds are fresh and clean.

Kinda makes me think of the 4 awg power wire?
Can a 4 awg supply enough current for that much wattage.
Im just curios about this cause im running the same size to my kx 1200,allthough ive had no problem with it shutting down?

Check the grounds and all your other connections make sure everything isn't coming unattached at all and make sure you have good grounds.

my 2 cents.

You are current clipping, probably because of a bad ground as stated, or I wouldnt be surprised if your power wire is too small.....

15" of 4awg is only good for around 100amps before Vdrop getts bad.... if that amp isnt that effecient it could very well be exceeding that by alot....
