A lot of HU's have the can't play DVD while driving sensor hooked up to the parking brake, mine did, I cut it off. Tell them it's hooked up to the parking brake, it's bs. $50/year isn't bad at all. What's the best security system?

Yeah, I'll start faxing my receipts ... that don't exist.
The insurance company doesn't know anything about an audio system, so I'm not covered. But seeing how many have mentioned up to $1500, this is something I'm going to look into.

A two way with good reception that has prox sensors, starter cut (set so the alarm must work for the vehicle to start), and most importantly A BACKUP BATTERY! Adding a second horn in a tight, impossible to access location usually guarantees a good surprise especially if they thought they cut one (leave to somewhere they might find it. Install a hood switch. Never install your alarm under the driver side dash. Get creative. Loom and hide EVERYTHING.

I love prox sensors. My alarm digitally controls two of them with dual zones. Can't even get close without it knowing your there (four really loud and annoying bursts).... can't reach through an open window without it going off.

Oh, another cool feature is relock. Should your vehicle be armed, and someone hits the power unlock, the alarm locks it back almost immediately.

I think that should make for a fairly efficient alarm. Then there is lo-jack... several other companies. If you do your homework. A tracking company's charge paid annually could be covered by the deduction by your insurance company.

You boys out east are very lucky!.Out here in BC your regular car insurance will cover the first 1k after that you have to pay $15.50/per $100 of declared value.Private insurers would cost $40/$100 of declared value.I am paying $900 for insurance plus $2k for a portion of my system's value. You guy's have got it made. B.C.= bring cash. Have a good week.

When I called the 800 # to revise my policy, I mentioned everything about the upgrades. faxed the receipts, and they approved everything. I received the docs in the mail to confirm. I then call them to double confirm everything and whether I had to sign this one page or not...

then they come back and say... your HU is not covered b/c it can play DVD's while driving. They did not care about anything being disabled or not, and the fact they already approved everything. They then said unless I removed the HU immediately, my insurance would be canceled. Pathetic.

I am just going to tell them off, and go elsewhere.
