Lets hear it. What got you starting in car audio...then into competing?

1987 328GTS. Holly's work was exceptional. I remember going to a IASCA meeting at C.A.R. and saw two fold up chairs sitting behind the open trunk of a brand new Mercedes Benz. I asked what they were for, and was told that Holly and Shane would sit there staring at the trunk until the install "just happened".
My story: I was working for a place called Base Electronics in Barrie in 1987. We had problems with our off site installer, so I just started doing the installs. After getting an Alpine 5900 to NOT skip in my 77 Mustang II, I figured my skills were getting somewhere. (Man, where is that Orion 425HCCA now...) Started judging SQ in CANII and IASCA after I realized I couldn't afford all this stuff (key word: after).
The other hook (someone already mentioned this) - going to WCES in 1988 and seeing the H/K car. Outstanding.
(BTW - Base Electronics ended up turning into Sound Satisfaction in later years.)
