The best way to get an amps power is in the application your running it in. Simple way is to get yourself an RMS Volt, imp. AC/DC etc.. clamp on amp meter(approx $200-300 low end fluke one)

Reactiveload test
Measure the speaker outputs voltage and AC current. Multiply the two together and you will get your power being used in your vehicle.

For a bench test with a resistive load just use a huge resistor or coils with no magnets. This test almost always yields more power from the amp as it has little imp rise but it does test the extreme ends of the amp without blowing up subs.

If anyone needs, you can email me for an ohms law calculator program that you can use to determine your power, imp rise with the voltage and current output from the amp outputs. It makes life alot easier if your looking for the impedance rise in a box at your spl note.

Edit: Actually I think its right here

Don't know how accurate it is but it was fun to try Only problem was with fluctuating current when playing regular music, test tones worked a little better though.
It's drawing 1297.88 watts, but it isn't necessarily making 1297.88 watts You have to test the outputs ... (AC Voltage squared divided by Impedance = Power) ... Also, use a sine wave
