to the OP. There will always be opinion on what's better than what...the important issue for you is to know that any decent sub will perform well if installed properly. Eventually you'll decide what you like after some experience with different brands...until then, buy good brands and have it installed properly.

To Hard,
Are you trying to say that Steven's other choices sound better??? I talk to Tony on a regular basis, and he is a die hard Audio guy, who has a Canadian company that is in the business to give good gear at good pricing, and I will clarify, most of his components do not come from China....he shops for what he thinks is good quality and going to last...(I think he has made some awsome choices for his customers), by the way when was the last time you got to talk to the president of Alpine???

I'm saying the Alpine sounds (and performs) better. Yes. I thought that was clear but there I'll write it again for you. I also made it VERY clear in my last post that I've got nothing against Kaption (so don't make it personal).

BTW, here's a test of the Kaption SPL 12 sub from the Kaption website. You might want to read the part where it states that:
"Tony Infantino explained that this driver was indeed created to produce prodigious amounts of SPL and wasn’t designed as a SQ driver, so my listening tests should reflect that"

Well, i got the Clarions then went around to see if i could've gotten a better deal, and it took a week to bring back the Clarions because they had to write me a cheque, so i still have to decide hahaha :P But i appreciate the input from everyone ! i'm leaning towards the Kaptions because i mainly listen to Hip Hop and Rap and so SPL subs are kind of catching my attention more than SQ... BUT i'm still not sure, i've always wanted to own Type R subs haha..

Get a set of each! Haha honestly if you're not very concerned about sq but just want your shook up go for the kaptions, they do get insanely loud, my friend has a pair and at the last stereo competition he just had them there to try and sell them, no box or anything and we wanted to try them out so we grabbed a crappy dual 10" prefab ported box cut the openings to fit the 12's and threw them in a 93 civic hatch back ran 30 feet of 16awg speakr wire from an Orion amp in someone elses car and first run it hit like 145, so if you get those subs and a bigggg amp you'll pretty much be bl
