Soundigital tests continued
I didn't get enough time to play with the amp. but I can wait for the proper version without the tiny terminals. The amp calculation sheet is nice if you have it on your laptop.
I can test 12 volt or 18 volt systems pretty accurately on one vehicle.
Easterners test spl so here are hard spl numbers, with them in my blazer, you may find what you need or not:
One Soundstream 10K @ .5 ohm 18volt = 155.3dB @ 46Hz
One 7KD @ .5ohm 12.6volt = 154.3dB @ 47Hz
One SD8000 @ .5 ohm 18volt = 156.3dB @ 46Hz
One 7KD @ .5 ohm 18volt = 156.3dB @ 46Hz
One 7K2D @ .5 ohm 18 volt = 156.8dB @ 46Hz
Two 7K2D's @ 1 ohm each 18 volt = 157.7dB @ 45Hz
Murillio my 12 volt test was all out of whack because my meter batteries were dying so I still need to test two SD8000's and four SDXXXXX's. Get to Winnipeg with them already.
I can retest the SD8000 that was used in this thread but it won't change the results I am afraid.

Aaron,
Thank you for taking the time effort and movies with your work on the Soundigital amp. Many of us were concerned about it's validity when claiming that much wattage with the internals looking the way that they do.
I've seen CCA members being total ******** to others before, hell, I've been attacked by them myself! It's not like Revscene where they monitor the conduct of their members. CCA just don't give a about others feelings. I think that it's a Toronto thing.
As for the subs in question, you can borrow some DD 95 series subs from me if you'd like to continue you experiment. We'll be doing the same tests on the new DD Z2lv amp this week when they come in. We would like to invite you to compare the two amps in a real time test using same subs, power and car.

I don't quite get what you mean by it being a "Toronto" thing... the only person on the Mod team from Toronto is the owner and he's almost never here.

Besides... some of the biggest jerks on this site were from the West
(until they were asked to leave that is....)
i dont think being from toronto has anything to do with not beleiving bunk tests. Im not from toronto, tom isnt from toronto, and neither of us think the tests hold any water. If your going to do testing on gear to publicly show what its capable of you could at the very least use proper gear when conducting your tests. Im not impressed with the internal pics either, and that stack of nuts is just well nuts. But that doesnt take away from the fact that those tests, as fun as they may have been to do, are totally worthless. Thanks aaron for showing that the amp will do 3000+ watts at 4 ohm, thats serious power at such a high impedance, now lets see some more vids with some real competition subs in that car.
this test is completely worthless. First of all if you are testing on a 12volt system you should be comparing to a 12v 7kd, second of all if you are testing a big power amp you simply can't get proper results using a crap pairof woofers since they can't handle the power whatsoever so the SPL portion (the important part) becomes totally useless. Third of all from what you are saying your street setup has a 5x impedance rise which is way out to lunch and for an amp to make over 3k rms at over 4ohms is pretty respectable, likely either you had the load wrong or the measurements were wrong or this test is just trash because in a real CRX setup the impedance rise is 2.5x with a wide varietyof woofers. Maybe we can give this another shot and get some tests together that make sense
And I don't see why everyone is so concerned with the 12v tests, arent the 16v tests more important since thats what the amp was designed for?

I would say that Team Riprock knows what they're doing when it comes to testing... ever heard of them? Yes the subs probably were a huge limitation but it seems to me that they were more concerned about power figures than SPL, even though they were comparing TL numbers. Cut them some slack.
this thread is great. filled with replies from a fictional character and its followers (who i dont think are aware). The best part about this is that the person who's car the test was done in hasn't even replied yet.
