Title: Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major, with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
Hans Graf is the conductor.

This cd was recorded at the Arts Centre in Calgary.

A quote from the liner notes:

Gustav Mahler(1860-1911) was authentically Central-European, steeped by birth and training in the world of opera, the music of Mozart and Beethoven, Weber and Wagner as well as the baroque sounds of Catholic ritual.

When listening to this cd in your car, you will probably have to turn up the volume a fair bit. This is what I noticed.

CD Title: MAX BRUCH Conertos 1& 3
James Ehnes, Violin
Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal
Charles Dutoit, conductor.

Label: CBC.

Strangely enough, Max Bruch(1800's) was not a violinist and he had to employ the help of several virtuoso violinists to help him, most notably, Hungarian virtuoso Joseph Joachim. With Joachim's help, Bruch composed some of the most powerful violin concertos accompanied by orchestra.

On this extraordinary cd, Bruch's 1st and 3rd concertos for violin and orchestra have been recorded by the excellent sound engineers at CBC.

L'Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, is in top from once again under the guidance and baton of conductor Charles Dutoit. Dutoit and this orchestra have been together since 1977 and they both flow very well together. The conductor is the most important player in an orchestra. He is like the pitcher in a baseball team, the quarter back in a football team, or the goalkeeper in a hockey team. And on this cd, Charles Dutoit has done an excellent job in guiding the orchestra to its full potential.

This recording took place at the St.Eustache Church, Quebec, May 17 and 19, 2000.

This is a very lush sounding cd with a very wide dynamic range. The sound quality is top notch.

No hesitation...pick up this cd and enjoy!!!

CD Title: WALK ON, RAY BROWN.
Label: TELARC.

This is an exceptional jazz cd (2 cd set). This is Ray Brown's last recording before his passing away. This is the cd set that I used when I auditioned the Bowers&Wilikins speakers along with the McIntosh amps. What a fantastic recording !!!! With my eyes closed, I felt that Ray Brown and his band were in the room with me.

Incredible sound quality on this recording!!!

Hey Keith,
Where-aboot do you get all your CDs? I just borrowed some audiophile label discs from my uncle, but he said the shop downtown he got them from is closed now. It was my first time listening to such high-quality recordings in my car, and it blew me away! I want to start my own collection. Thanks

I use a different selection than most:

Coldplay - Rush of Blood to the Head (excellent piano and guitar work)
Beck - Mutations (the odd sounds are great!)
BNL - Disc One (Greatest hits)
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (of course!)
I might try experimenting with Train - Drops of Jupiter

and I HAVE to find a copy of:
Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet

Chen, I have purchased my cd's at the PLAY music store at TD SQUARE in downtown Calgary, and also at the HMV store in Chinook Mall, Calgary. I have also ordered some of the cd's via CBC's website, www.cbc.ca/shop/ You can also purchase high quality recordings at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra's head office on 8th Ave in downtown Calgary.
