Is this a good speaker set for front speakers in an SQ competition focussed install?

Dave,

You are correct in your opinion about our Porsche. The problem was we had to find a way to display the tweeter since it is a show vehicle used for sales not for competition. We did not want to cut into our door for a displayed tweeter mount. I assure you that once the vehicle has served it's purpose as a show only vehicle, the problem will be corrected, and you will be the first to get a listen The Graphic Pro's have garnered a LOT of respect around the world and sadly, we sold them short with a compromised install. Many people that have had exteneded audtions of the Porsche agree that the speakers sound fantastic in terms of their acoustic properties, they are just not placed properly. Kind of in the sense of a great sounding pair of home speakers that are not quite placed in the right direction...

Eddie,
i'm up for showing off Plow's car as if it was my own!!! however i think it needs some tuning... we really ought to get together over it. seems you like some serious midbass from the settings i heard! i thought the midbass was too dense and overbearing... so we checked out some other settings (lower X-over pointsw/higher slopes, a bit of gain here and there and BAM!! i thought your tuning had been blown out of the water! Female vocals sounded like sexy women again. I was proud, until Plow put on the eagles and my settings brought the music accross as thin, lacky body and missing considerable life... 1 switch back to your settings and HollY CRAP T the EAGLES came alive! rich full bodied midbass, midrange that surrounded you and out the stage... everything seemed acoustically more accurate... what a world of difference... and i was humbled again. What's the lesson here? no one setting will work best with all recordings... if you want to squeeze the most SQ that will meet your personal tastes, get some active signal processing, take the time to learn its usage and tune to your heart's content! i suggest bothering Plow for a listen, with or without Tru amps.

Adam,

Thanks for the compliment. There was a LOT more man hours put into that amp rack than we anticipated at the beginning. Just ask Ray We are finally getting around to rebuilding our website and should have some video's of it moving on there.

I don't think I saw your amp rack post, do you have a link?

Amp rack is still the same since I did that stuff, I've been working on trim panels, and my front stage installation since then.

PLOW, you are going to have to post some pictures. I'm especially interested in your tweeter installation.

As a side note (kinda off topic), I would like to say that buying used equipment off of eBay or even from this board, does have benefits. Some of those people who are selling are doing so to buy better (new) equipment -- some from local dealers. Some people can't afford new, so they hunt for bargains. If I had money, I'd spend it at a local shop, because they are the ones who promote the car audio scene and do their best to bring in great products. Most of the time, shipping, duties, and brokerage fees make it not worthwhile to get anything online from the US, not to mention warranty issues. If I buy anything online, it is from individuals from Canada. BTW, does anyone want to buy an RFX 8250 from me so I can buy something from TIm when his shop opens up? I don't know Tim very well, but from what I've seen on this board, he's a complete *ssh*le..............

........... just kidding. He goes out of his way to help others and to promote car audio -- he's tireless, man. I'm going to be his first customer (living in langley makes it easy).

-----addendum------

I have a set of Morel components (Dotech 5) in kick panels and they are very, very nice..........

there, now my post is legit
