Head Unit Choices
#92
Install, is the biggest thing though. Hehe, I had to say it before Tom If a Denon Z1 or Nak CD-700 was the end all of imaging/sound problems, then everyone that competes would be using one.
Eclipse vs P9. Well, I've never used an
Eclipse in my life. I have owned the P9. I have judge some of the top IASCA competitors using the P9 combo. I haven't seen a lot of IASCA cars running around with Eclipse. If Eclipse is great stuff, I would have expected to see more Eclipse then P9's, but I haven't. Anyways, that being said, I think a fair-er comparison sonically is to compare the P9 head unit with the Eclipse head unit and no processing. I'd hazzard a guess that it's tough to tell which is more sonically transparent............... which one isn't adding "more" crap to the signal. Given that, add the optical link to to the P9 processor and all the goodies that the P9 processor allows you to band-aid your system with, hard to beat the flexibility of the P9 versus the Eclipse.
Ok, on the flip side, ask Jamie (Impalla Builder) what deck he's using.......... and it isn't a P9
And so I finish up by saying, buy what you like. Both are good pieces. But both offer different methods to the madness at different costs/reliability. They look and operate differently. And at the end of the day, they both suck HUGE compared to my Denonford 8250i And INSTALL is almost everything......... there, I said it. I feel better now
