Hello goalie 35

the question is not what is the best Amp. The question is what is the best sound for MY ears! But I have no chance to hear a Hybridamp in Germany

Tom

Excuse my poor English

Actually if we are compairing tube amp to tube amp they can sound different... although good ones will sound the same and be comperable to a solid state amp...

From Sweetnlow's account I might hypothesise that one amp had a very low damping factor...

Hello Tom

I believe goalie 35 is trying to say "ALL" amplifier sounds the same to his ears.

Check out this thread from the Car Sound forum, It'll give you a head-up on what to expect asking SQ difference in products.

this comment is not to nit pick or start an argument its just an observation on my part. i have never heard anyone with credibility say that amp a sounds better than amp b in REAL WORLD applications! by these people i mean enginners, designers, ect. the only people who, from what i have picked up over the yrs, are newbies to the industry, or reps/salesmen, or people who think because they have two thesis amps that they have to brag about why they just dumped 20k on amps! how eles can they justify the cost, "oh ya you should here how good my amps sound" if thats how you justify the purchse hip hip horray for you. now back to another mind nummbing question, if women are smarter than men, why do they all dance backwards?

^ you are preaching to the choir...

on the other hand you might want to read up on tube amps... high output impedance can and will color the sound... that could be percived as 'better' by someone who wants that inferior 'tube' sound... also a tube amp's clip behaviour is vastly different then that of a solid state amp.... (yes in a perfect world this wouldn't be an issue but for the other %95 of us our amps do clip) Hard clipping a tube amp is percieved by many as sounding not bad or even good...

Thats the difference between the apples and the oranges.... RCs challange only considered SS amps and tube amps with decent DF driven below clip... if the tube amp didn't have decent DF he'd add a resistor to the outputs on the SS to match output impedance.....
