pusnboob, you are trying to convince a group of people that have already decided to not be convinced. the very test they discredit are the very tests they have already decided dont prove anything. they will try to dumb it down so that they believe themselves with things like nobody has ever been able top tell the diff and so on, yet you can say your wife could tell but thats not scientific enough or not real proof or whatever. listen to your speakers with your wife and enjoy them regardless of wire, you are trying to discuss a topic with people that have already decided its outcome, before even try answering. now they will say the abx test this and the wire swap that and i want proof but regardless of the listening proof you provide, it will never be good enough..............ever, and that has been proven here. there are 2 sides, those who believe and those who dont. go drink a beer, it wont suck the intelligence of you as quick as this thread will. these people are basically telling yo that your wife is wrong and hearing things, i would be interested to hear your wifes input

If our acoustic memory is only good for 8 seconds, than how does one validate that ANYTHING sounds better compared to anything else? Furthermore, that would suggest that any form of comparitive subjective sound quality judging (ie SQ) has no validity whatsoever... Cool, maybe BOSE does sound as good as anything else out there, since supposedly my "memory" of what I hear only lasts 8 seconds...

I agree that there are two sides. I don't presume that I will "convert" anyone to my thinking. I find it very much the other way around.
Kinda like vegetarians - I couldn't care less that they don't eat meat, more for me , but many I know seem to feel the need to prattle on about how bad meat is and I find 'wire people' the same way - like convincing me lends validation to their opinion or something.

But when I voice my experiences - that I have never heard nor have I ever seen anyone hear nor have I ever read anything anywhere ever that someone in a formal comparison has heard a difference - I get told that my ears suck and I am wrong...
That I take issue with.

I have always maintained the same stance on this.
People think they are hearing a difference. However once you take it to another level and actually perform a somewhat scientific test to validate their experience they do not hear a difference.
I could care less what anyone thinks will make there system sound better. I do however take offence when people see generic speaker wire in my system and automaticlly feel my system is sub-par.
If $xxx.xx /foot wire makes you happier than $x.xx/foot wire then by all means use it. Just don't tell me that my system will be inferior (or yours somehow superior). I am happy to spend the difference in money on the only audio upgrade that can be 100% garranteed to make a noticable differnce every time:
More cd's.
