Technically, it doesn't matter where you tap in. I would tap into the wire though cause you get better conductance with copper to copper rather than copper to the steel terminals on your speaker.

You should only need to tap into one speaker. I would use a speaker wire rather than the sub wires as the sub wire may cut off the frequencies higher than you would like.

For a remote, I would either find which wire on your deck is the remote for your amplifier or I would tap into the wire in your fuse panel for your radio.

cool...thanks man!...thats what I was afraid of with the sub wire not picking up the frequencies that the factory 8" couldnt.
yeah im going to have to use the fuse box because the wire isnt accessable because its all in one...think its called a tetrix cable...
