I'm surprised no one has commented that hes using a cap when the battery is located in the rear of the car.
If I may ask, why does the location of the battery relative to the amp and/or cap matter?

A 1 farad cap is only good for like .?? of a second until it discharges then it's only a draw on your system.
Why are you trying to run your stereo off of just the cap? It should be connected to the battery/alternator.. Really, is it not like saying "the fuel filter in your car is junk - the engine can empty it in, what, 2 seconds and then the fuel pump/gas tank needs to fill it again..." Truly, your car can function without a fuel filter just like the stereo can function without a cap, but the performance and reliability of your system may be improved if you use one. Fair enough?

Yes, Dukk... I was simply stating that after it's discharged its only drawing amps trying to fill up again until the note stops. Then it quickly tops up and as soon as next note hits the same thing happens all over again.

Wheren't you part of (I think it was Jordy's) thread about caps usefulness? There was a huge long debate about them.

If I was, I was on the PRO side. IMO caps have their purpose. If you look closely at how an amp operates, you might begin to see my point (even though others still say no - and that's ok too)

I'm aware that amps have capacitors inside them.

I think the best description I saw in that thread (not sure who posted it) was a toilet analogy. While I agree that a second battery is a better solution, at these power levels it just makes more sense labour-wise and finacially to use a cap

Sure they do, but that's not what I'm talking about. Look at how the amp works, and how that relates to the car, and how a cap may fit into the mix. I'm not trying to be a jackass, I just think it better to do some research.

lol, if there was a toilet analogy, it was probably me It's one of my favourites, along with the fuel filter one.

But hey, this post is about grounding. Here's what I would do: Take a nice big 0ga wire and reground your battery to the body with it. Ground your amps to this spot rather than right at the battery. Next run a 8ga cable from that ground point to the dash area and ground it to the same spot your deck is grounded to now.
