Bah..relays, schmelays

I can turn on my 4 neons, 3 fans and three amps from my one remote wire. Hehe...

relays can get messed up if they're abused. we had a guy at work using an electric bender that has a number of large relays called contactors in the back to ru the motor, and he was bending the pipe about 2 degrees at a time, as fast as his fingers could press the button to make the bender go; eventually the relay contacts heated up to the point where they melted together... then the breaker tripped, and he didn't turn the unit off, or take the pipe out before he turned the breaker, which was 3 rooms away, back on. It's always fun to see a guy try to unwind 2" pipe from arond a bender.

 

Relays can also fuse themselves if not mounted properly, gravity can take over in time, and make the reed short out, & in case of impact, and as mentioned prolonged use(as in continuous on).
