If it is sick scared or hurt they will defend themselfs if they feel threatend. In that case it is the owners responsibility to keep there dog out of the situation where they can do harm.
However what happens is the dog will get punished and the breed gets a black mark.
Fair? Not for the dog whatsoever. </font>
Alright, well I wasn't totally pointing that at you, I was speaking in general for an arguement, it just happens that you were the one to bring up what I quoted lol
As for being fair for the dog I'd say its 50/50.
Check this place out for pit bull information on bans, breeding etc.

The more I listen to people preaching bans, the more I like my bully, at least he listens.

yea, some dogs simply don't like kids...that's understandable.....kids are loud and rough, would you want some grubby kid kicking you, or hitting you, or putting peanut butter all over you or something stupid like that?

it was probably a LawnBoy mower.....I'd have bit him too....they have a very distinct and annoying sound(well, the old ones anyway) especially when yer trying to sleep.
Perhaps the dogs owner treated the dog badly and the dog got loose or whatever (I dunno the whole story) and attacked, you really can't blame the dog.
When a child grows up in a bad home then commits a crime can the child really be blamed? I don't think so.

pit bulls, regardless of how well trained have a proven track record of being violent and swarming people and other animals that didnt provoke them, if you have to muzzle your dog to take it for a walk where other people and animals may be, if you have to worry about the safety of everything in your neighborhood if you dog gets loose by accident, you shouldnt, and nobody elkse should be allowed to have them. would any of the pitbull owner here feel safe if their dog got loose, i know that if my dog got loose, the only thing that would scare me is someone stealing her, her getting hit by a car, or wandering into a yard with a pitbull in it

Personally I'm all for background checks for gun ownership, animal adoption, child adoption.
With the amount of CAS cases I see I would also love to see a check to determine if a couple is worthy to have a child. When I see a couple and look at their list of problems (mentally, socially) I am saddened to know that the child has a very good chance to grow up exactly like them. It is not the child's fault but we learn many skills by what we are taught and what we are accustomed to.

Of course my parents just tell the story that they were putting the garbage out one day and heard a banging around in a garbage can and I crawled out. They fed me once and then couldn't get rid of me.
Jeez. When will this end?
Saying a pitbull is most likely to attack over another breed is the same as saying all Hindu`s are terrorists or own 7-11`s and all asians know karate.
Get off the pot.
I will put it this way.
Were you born knowing eberything you needed to know?
nope
Did your parents teach you right from wrong?
yes
Did they teach you your bad habits or did you learn some on your own?
you werent born to hate, kill, steal, etc, so it was learned somehow?
The same way ANY breed of any animal learns.
Ok, so now all pitbulls have been eliminated. What is next?
Who knows? Maybe children with a handicap cause they are a bad image and provoke fear in some people. Lots of people are scared of snakes, ban them too.
What about those scared of the dark? Turn all the lights on, cant be too safe.
Guess that can go for car Audio too eh? Cant hear a siren behind you posibly , just might cause that fire truck to be too late and someone might get hurt all cause the stereo was too loud.
Horsepower can hurt , maim and kill.
Name someone that hasnt been bitten or attacked by something, anything at all.
This pissing match will go on forever like death and taxes.
I have been bitten by many dogs and other animals, but never a pitbull. Doesnt say it could never happen.
