the 2011 season
I think something to look at might be for competitors to be able to choose their own entry fee at shows.
In other words $20 if you want to be eligible for a trophy or $30 if you want a trophy.
#1 This would give a bit of research to the guys who care about the industry enough to put on the shows (keith and the guys @ soundsgood, pat and robert @ team shadow, dbdon @ *********, and all the others ive missed) as to if people really care about trophies or if they really just want to compete for bragging rights against one another and seeing some sort of number value placed on how loud they think they are.
#2 Me personally as a bit of a veteran competitor. I care much more about bringing new guys in and giving them a chance and getting the sport going and having more shows and greater attendance than I do getting a kickass expensive trophy. My numbers and my stats page are what I take pride in...not big trophies. Simply because the way the competition scene is right now...you could slap together a system and do 140 db and purposely go in a class that has nobody else in it and take home a 6 or 7 foot trophy. Thats not how it should be. And there are people doing that now.
This might be a bit of a rant but to avoid people going in different classes and whatnot you could simply combine classes based on power and batteries but not cone area. Since a lot of the scores would be very very close. Say for instance 2 amps strapped (1 amp) and 2 batteries total of 800cubic inches each (12 volt only), car off. Unlimited cone area. Who would win?
Street A -last year TMH-with 2 10s, one small batt, one amp----156.5
--throw in two bigger batts and a 2nd amp....just speculation but maybe 158 db??
Street B-this year Jesse - 3 10s, 2 amps (i think), one batt- 156.8
---throw in a 2nd batt...again speculation...157.3 maybe more
Street C- last year team custom dale- 4 12s, 2 amps, 2 batts - 157.5
---already has the amp and batt limit and his score is comparable with the other two.
You might think cone area makes a huge difference in SPL but when it comes to street class box efficiency a lot of these vehicles dont have enough space for the port needed so less is often more.

the usaci classes are based alot on wattage , were as db drag is basically battery limit , so the rookies do have alot better chance of winning in usaci , which I think is why james wants to be doing usaci more to get the rookie guys more involved and grow the sport
ya if you guys see a USACI show going on support it as much as ya do dB Drag because eventually it will be more wide and it will appear in more areas where it is not currently. I wonder what class I would be in????
i for one would love to see some of the guys back that have taken a few years off. would love to go back to team shadow shows since in my world thats where it started for me i am very disapointed aca is not running shows but that is there descion. as for prices i for one dont see the need for the big trophies and such i look it as a great experence to show off our hard work and hang with great guys i dont care how big the trophy is the guys i have ment in spl are better than any trophy given.
i would be just as happy with a printed piece of paper as i would be with a trophy as longas someone is still putting on shows the prizes dont matter. if it means goin smaller trophies for more swag im all for it!!
i cant wait for the 2011 year im hoping everyone will be bringing out more rookies to bring spl back in bc and get some bigger events.and for some of the veterans that havent been around for a while(you know who you are) would love to see you guys back at shows even with out a car to compete in..your knowledge is worth more the way i see it. just you guys being there helping rookies and hanging out is all id ask for no need for you guys to spend any more of your moeny on this because you all have already been there. i know thats the reason for most veterans for them not coming out the last few years so lets go guys get back in the game..

With a little effort one could make really decent plaques for maybe $12-15 a pop. It would take some effort though.
I don't mean to bish at you dude because you DO actually host some shows but man I get tired of the same excuses. Like I have said for the 17 years I have lived in BC: if each indy shop each held just one show a summer we would have trouble scheduling them all.

true but when a rookie goes to a show and pays 20 or 30 dollors they want to win a trophy or an award that they can be proud of , thats how were going to get those guys coming back , its great to see ppl helping the rookies even its showing them to move their seats or pushing on their cars its all about getting them hooked on the sport and keeping the shows going , when you drive 10 hrs to a show you want to atleast leave with something for your efforts , the best show I went to this year was Don and Clays Calgary regional , everyone there was friendly , there was lots of rookies out competing and having a good time , there were great trophys and prizes and everyone got a certificate and T shirt , there were 33 competitors at that show which was one of the biggest shows in 2010 and I think it was a great experiance for all the rookies that attended
