wow..7 pages discussing the loss of one company supporting iasca shows, and out of the 7 there are only about a dozen people piping up.. sad shows me no one right now cares... well i for one do, i have been doing iasca since the late 80s!! Doug Gilroy got me hooked back when i was 18
.. so what needs to be done... do we need better advertising of events so people will show up? better prizes? more money? more hot chicks? more for spectators? better results for the shop owners in customer traffic? what are we trying to gain by holding a show.... every sat. me and dukk talk for hrs. about hosting shows and the cost to income ratio. and we have seen thousands spent with no return and zero spent and tremendous return... i think the industry has to start planning now for a show next june, july, aug, sept. even may.. instead of getting sponsors to donate car alarms, subs, shirts, hats, amp kits, and all that other junk, have them donate a trophy or two.. as it seems trophies are the biggest hit to the wallet.
next is attendance.. well people you got to let us know there is a show comming up more than two weeks in advance.. help us out here. post your show 3 months in advance on here, and all the other forums.. hell there are lots... use facebook. for daves show i really wanted to go agaist bill pleaseant and kept looking to see if he was coming..so i was getting excited about that possibility.. ( weasle didnt show by the way). promote promote promote... and we will come.
now back in the day we used to open the store up and hold a sale... thats right we sold stuff at the shows... usually the clearence, open box stuff but it was a good time to dump the older stuff that was stagnate. in the 7yrs of competing out here i have not seen one store open the cash register to sell any product...
now for spectators.. what the hell is there to due..nothing,... cars are closed, no one to talk to and the cars that are open look like hell! how about having events like rc cars, rock climbing wall, wet t-shirt contest, deck toss, ect ect.. since you didnt have to pay for trophies, there should be some money avalible to get some of these things..
i applaude keith, ******, james, luke, jeff. for holding shows yr after yr.. but we do need fresh blood and we really have to sit down and take a hard look at how shows are going to be held and run... we cant keep doing fly by the seat of our pants shows anymore... please feedback lots of it everyone.. we all have an opinion as to why its not working.lets hear how we can make it work... GO!!

well said Randy , ive been talking with chris from elevated audio , and he wants to do a circuit of shows he is a certified iasca judge and I have the meter so we can make some shows happen , with sq and spl , but if we could find sponsors for the trophys such as stereo companys ,lordco shops around town and give them advertisment maybee on a t shirt or on the radio that would bring in some sponsors , if we did a class just for fun were you could put the mic anywere in the car and had ppl pay 5 bucks to get in and have the winner get the pot I think that would have some interest

IASCA would be happy to help in any way we can. It's all about helping the dealers and the competitors!

For all of you competitor types - roll into your local dealer(s) and ask them if they are doing a show in 2011. If they say no, ask why. Ask why they don't want to support the hobby. Don't take "it's too expensive" as the cop out answer. A half page ad in a local newspaper costs more than it takes to put on a show and has no immediate return on investment...

I know all it takes is 100 bucks to sanction a show , they were upset that i said they wernt doing shows whatsoever when they are doing non sanctioned shows so I posted that , they said they want to grow more competitors well doing non sanctioned shows their going to loose the competitors they did have its not worth the 1000 bucks I would have to shell out to drive to kamloops for a non sanctioned show or for somone to drive from vancouver for a non sanctioned show , I agree its cool to get more rookies involved but their are other ways of doing things

vancouver and area is a great place for cars and anything associated with them, we have many car related shops that iam sure would love to sponser a trophy or two.. and call the local radio stations and they will run free ads the day of the show to promote your community.. all local radio stations due this..... and its free... also costco hotdogs and buns are dirt cheap... remember we have to advertise, i cant stess this enough.. dukk will help all he can on here. if you are having problems pm him and he can help.. if someone needs a meter and mic i have a a.c. with a new sq and new spl mic.. just let me know when you need it.. and use all the free internet pages at your disposal.. there free...
canadian car audio
12volt.com
term pro
iasca.com
soundoff.org
pas mag
facebook
email..
carsound.com
12volt insider.com
all free to advertise and i and everyone eles who competes is on one or more of these forums... so now we have for expenses... 100 bucks iasca fee. free trophies, free advertising all over northamerica, sales for the store, over 50 cars per show.... 225 bucks to rent a climbing wall, 100 bucks misc. 250 bucks to have some staff in store for 5 hrs... ok not to bad so far and this show gets better and better...... also advertise a raffle for a wicked prise like a 60 inch plasma.... tickets 20 bucks each or 3 for 50.. this will definitly make you some money.. and it keeps people around as you have to be there to win!! to ease the cost make it last yrs. model. i dosent have to be a t.v but try to make it something everyone can use... my mom wont by a ticket on a 2000watt mono amp no matter how nice it is.. get the picture....

I constantly roll into my local shop....but my local shop----soundsgood----is planning on having at least 3 shows in 2011....Visions was supposed to do a curcuit this year, but I guess the big box stores don't care about the consumer too much. I don't really deal with any other shops, but I would support their events, and bring my team, and the word like I always do to get more people out to these shops to see what they have to offer.....that is if they were to hold an event that's fun and fair for all.....
