I was thinking about testing it with mdf first but i dont really want to spend the money to go and get a sheet of the stuff. If it sounds like crap ill sell it and get my cash back with a good mark in woodshop either way lol. Still crossing my fingers for a good sounding box though.

working on the frames that will hold the plexi on the top, baffle and front of the box. Ill have more pics when I make some more progress.

I also meant to ask about cutting the holes for the subs in the plexi. would simply using a router with a circle jib be fine or would the high RPM melt the crap out of it? What method would give the best results for this kind of job without having to take it to a cnc machinist?

PS: Damn that MDF makes a mess when you router it!!!!!!!

 

thats some damn nice router skills you got there. congrats on a nice looking build. as far as the plexi glass, a router should do just the trick, but be sure to move slowly while making the circular cut.

 

Very nice, thanks for putting up the pics. I'm not a big fan of the add ons like neon and things (takes power away from my amps ), but I really do like looking at them.

You should be getting top marks based on the quality of what I see.

Looks quite strong as well. What I might suggest based on the effort put forth so far is when your done and its been marked. Get some body filler and use that rather then wood filler to fill all screw holes and wood seams.

Thanks guys I have been kinda pondering how to fill all the gaps and such, body filler sounds like a good idea. Im also going so silicone everything from the inside so there are no leaky seams. It's not perfect but every year in highschool I like to "go all out" on a project in some way or another. This seems to be that project for the year and it has been a hell of a lot of work so far lol. Giant friggin jigsaw puzzle!!!

I can't work on it till monday but I am hoping to get all my final measurements and start cutting the plexi on monday!

rather then silicone you can use wood glue or better still would be contracts adhesive (eg liquid nails)
Depending on what your filling it may be better to use kitty hair or bondo glass (fiber infused body filler) before a layer of normal filler. Its stronger and sands pretty smooth.
