george has no idea what he's talking about. there's nothing unsafe about the minor mods i've done to the power supplies. It's no more of a hazard than that computer you're on right now. It's not like they are modded to put out more current than they do in the computer.. just modded to put out what they're supposed to without being connected to a PC.

and for thoose who actually care and arent just here to poke fun, i've made a smaller power supply today it's got 4 boards in it, and is good for about 80 amps or so. The only problem i have with it is the inability to go up to 14.4 or 15 volts

First off, an old receiver from a pawn shop for $100 is going to have less noise and sound better than what you need to spend on a power supply.
The little Pyramid supply is an OK unit, and it's nice that you can crank up the voltage.
If you are going to beat on the system, then you are going to need a real power supply like the ones I use:
The Cascade Audio APS-90.

You can use a car battery, just find a way to vent the explosive and dangerous gases out of your room so you don't die...
You can also pick up an inexpensive stand-alone 120V amp like these if you want to save yourself the potential house-fire and insurance headaches...
