ive been trying to sell since i got my new amp annd realized my dv4 cant wire down to 1 ohm =( soo im hopeing a 12"mach 5 ixl is decently priced.

if you know anyything about boxes can u help me out, does port area matter as long as u get your cubes and tuning right? like i ahve 2 box designs one with about 40inches port area and another with 33

Ported area/length directly affects the port frequency, port frequency directly impacts sub performance.

i know, thats not what i asked tho, i asked if port area matters, as long as you get your desired box size and tuning by changing the diameter and lengths of ports

I don't think so, I ran a couple models through BB6P and it made little difference in response as long as the port length was changed to match the change in port area. I'd think that some would have less port noise though ... Haven't really experimented much with ported boxes.

okay yeah im assuming it doesnt affect too much as long as you change your diameter and lengths. and the difference probably would be more for people in comps when little things make a difference, but who knows i could be completely wrong haha

The only difference is the speed of the air in the port......if you are competing you would notice a difference on a meter but the audible difference would be minor. This is assuming you aren't going to extremes on the port dimensions in the first place and the tuning is staying at the same frequency......
