keep the port where it is!! i honestly think 1 sub in that box would stop the shredding. With the kind of power you have, you need more volume and the second sub takes it from you, i bet 1 12" would gain over the 2 10"

Slot ports are not your friend in the trunk, not in this style of box anyway!!

My current box and every box I've used thus far have all been slot ports. It actually works really well.

Don I thought about that too but 1 12 wont bassrace a 50+

I did do testing on one 10 and can do 49's. Thats the sub directly over port opening. Other sub farther in box was 1.5 lower.

what the aq dude is doin 150 with his 1 15 even if it is outlaw style and he is using aero's and i'm doing 150's unsealed. Rob's car can be made much louder but he would have to come to the dark side...... OH and start from scratch on a new box!

I want 2 BTL 12's on 4k in a trunk everything facing forewards with a cheap MDF/towel seal, tuned at 35 or 34hz, the front of the box is as large as the opening so besides the rear deck holes it seals itself with 17 x 37. How come most foreward fire boxes have a huge port (maybe 7") for one 12? On the RE box calculator it says I can go with 5.25" wide for 2 12's and that's 2.4 cubes. On the box I designed I got 5.203 cubes so the subs get 2.4215 each with 78.75 square inches of port area. If I raise the depth by .3 then it gets 2.4605 each with 78.736 sqin. Do I want it as close to 16 sqin per foot or is a little more port area better? 77.488 is needed for 2.4215 per. I could go 90 sqin and make the box longer.

Bigger ports work better for spl.

Side note....I have a friend with a Pontiac G6. His box is rear firing tuned to 36hz. The lucky bastard found a second peak at 53hz and is now doing 149.5 with a cactus k5(clamped 1800 watts) legal on the dash.

Does anyone know the resonant frequency of an Alero? Is it probably 45-47hz?
