the lx's would be a great driver, if possible go for the 6.5" you get a lil more output also order the 25mm tweeter. you can get a shop to order you just the drivers without xovers and save yourself some dosh.

as far as an sq sub. i'd have to say the avi sls300 is definatley worth a look. dave can tell you all about how deadly they are. i ran one for a while and they sound amazing. plays down really low, punchy and loud. they should be able to handle a 1001bd if you have the gains down low. worth taking a look at.

I would also 2nd the motion that you go with the LX comps, I have the BSM's in my Saturn and the only word I have to say is GAWD DAMN!!! They are a phenominal set of speakers, spend that dough and go with something that is well worth the money.

How much do those cost? Were those the ones for like $450?? Also why are the 25mm tweeters better than the 30mm?

the 25mm is just much easier to mount. the 30mm is a monster. dave can also shed more light on why the 25mm is better pm him.

Ok, things may have just changed.. I can get that Alpine 9855 for $400 Cdn, plus I can get Alpine Type X or R stuff really cheap as well. How would the Type X comps compare to AVI comps?? Also what about the subs? I may still go with the AVI's just curious..

The 9835 can still be ordered from Alpine via dealers, it's the 9833 that is completely out of production. Alpine has had a significant failure rate in the GlideGuide touchscreen control on the 9853 and 9855. From what I've heard from a few of the Alpine dealers out here Alpine is issuing a recall on all those units and will probably drop the GlideGuide from next years line. If you can find a used 9835 or 9833 I'd go with that route.

I agree with everyone saying to go with the lx's. You really do get what you paid the extra $$$ for. As for the BSM's, they retail over a G but are quite phenomenal and handle tons of power. Anyhow, as for subs, try out the IDMAX. Best SQ sub for the price I'd have to say and they play loud. Regarding AVI subs, there's another thread talking about them.
