Cost no object midbass

Fun to be back. Hopefully I'll remember to git on here and post like mad.......... like the ole days. Gotta email Adam Hale to get back here for a cheap shot or two as well. I'm still trying to scam his F1 off his punk azz .......... but he won't let go!!!
Anyways, sorry about taking this OT.
A little late to the party...but what do you know...I'm looking for the ultimate midbass too!
(Fingers tightly wrapped around H900)
Usher has a nice 7"... the 8945. Been dying to install that, but I might just keep it for home and pair it with the 9950 tweet.
As for great sounding midbass... where's Mr. Marco? He had a crazy pair of Morel made 8" (Macrom was it?) that got incredibly deep and loud without an ounce of strain. It just blew me away how low they were able to go in the Z32 with the roof off.
update: I have been using the Dynaudio MW-162 for some time now and have finally got it tuned pretty good it is only running from 100 to 200 Hz with 18db slopes on the hi and low pass. System mids and highs are taken care of by the Hybrid audio Technology 3" and the original Hybrid tweeter. All crossovers associated with the Dynaudio are active while the Hybrids have a custom passive crossover between them.
I have purchased a couple other speakers to test and evaluate to see if they can better the dynaudios. The speakers under test are the 6 1/2" Peerless 830883 ($43 each), the 5 1/4" Tang Band W5-704D ($20 each), the 6" Jamo 20422 ($10 each), and the vintage 6 1/2" JBL 306G (eBay $60 for pair shipped).
Please bear in mind the reference here is the Dynaudio MW-162 a dedicated car audio midbass with midrange capabilities.
First off the Jamo- 40-3500 Hz with an Fs of 64 Hz so I was expecting a driver with extended range. It is a 6 ohm driver with 89dB @1W so I expected a little less output in theory. In reality it was VERY LOW output compared to the Dyn and I had to lower the output of the hybrid mid/tweet combo by 10dB to vaguely balance. No bass, no slam, no midrange, no vocal performance worth talking about... a waste of $20 US. Probably wants more than the .22 Vas. Jamo home speakers sound great I expected more but who am I kidding they were only $10 each what did I expect? They look great, clean and simple and I could probably build an OK mini-monitor with it.

I just added 1600w rms to my two sets of JBL 660gti components...
enough midbass to feel it in the floor and bounce the rear veiw mirror
with out the use of any sub at all.........and clear as a bell way past
the level my ears can handle for long periods
definately in the cost no object catagory but damn....worth every penny IMO

Yes those JBL can slam! they have a lot of articulation too, but yeah bring your check book for those bad boys.
I am doing a little inexpensive detour on my testing as I dont have a problem not spending a fortune either (of course I will have 7 or 8 pairs of speakers when i am done too)

Also the Dyn has what is best described as a hellacious HOOT in my car (say the word Whooooooo, the oooo is way over acentuated (320 to 400 Hz))
review pending as they are on my seat waiting to be installed
^ well there you go, Dynaudio has a house sound, I dont want the house sound at all... to not have the house sound you must avoid that region... from 650Hz up the mid-range is fine below 300 it is good but between 300 and 600 it has a bit of a 'cupped ear' sound (put your right hand around your right ear and that is the same accentuation I am talking about). This is the nature of my car and that woofer... sure its a waste that's why I am shopping again.
On the positive side no speaker I have tried produces more SPL then the Dynaudio brand it literally makes my dash shake, when played loud (or soft) it does so with dynamic slam second to none. The little MW-162 really makes a sub-woofer optional for engine off listening. And while it looks just like the home audio woofers it is not a home audio woofer it is designed for the mobile environment. The Hybrids were the limiting factor in system SPL with the Dynaudio, with every other Mid-bass the mid-bass output forced me to lower the gain on the Hybrid amp.
I have heard that 'hoot' with every Dyn mid-bass, but in my car it was so significant it limited the speakers range and frankly the HAT was better anyway in that region. No amount of EQ can overcome the basic sound a driver makes.
