^same with horns

same with MBQ's

Good sound is timeless, and some things will work in certain types of cars and not so well in others. Do what sounds good to you

Well at least one thing will always stay the same:
People will insist on making opinions on how a setup will sound before they will listen to it.

I'd have to say the look of a system has a lot to do with the perceived SQ.
I know that when I listen to a system, if I see things that I know are wrong, I won't give it an "objective" evaluation, 'cause I "know" it could be better. Not a concious choice, but rather a "I'm not gonna waste my time getting my head in the right space" kinda thing.
Having judged in the past, and been beaten by some cars that were inferior to mine, but had a better "spiel", I know that the sound is not all that is judged in the SQ section of the score sheet.
Then there is the example of someone spending weeks on making an elaborate structure, only to have people comment on the visible flaws.
Ever done a big vinyl job, and had someone point out a small imperfection? Doesn't matter how much effort went into it....the flaws are what stand out. Makes you want to slap em!!!
I can remember when I was first getting into home audio, staring at my huge Kenwood receiver, and thinkin how much nicer it made it sound, just by looking at all that power, and glowing blue display.
I know that today, just by telling someone what they are about to hear, they notice it, and judges are no different than any other human....we all have somewhat limited senses, and those of us with the most experience (oldest) have the least. And yet that same experience can overcome the loss of hearing, by inference, memory, and being "in tune" with the elusive "multi-sensory" aspect of experiencing a stimulating event.

just got home from a live motown show at the commodore ballroom in vancover. man was that show awsome, i listened intentley for over 3 hrs to some of the best musicians alive today playing songs like "sunsine on a cloudy day" to "just call my name and ill be there". i now know what we are all missing when we listen to music in our cars or in our homes, its the pure energy created by the instruments. when that brass section kicked in, the horns gave me goosebumps with there range and sheer volume!! sorry merridian you make one of the best speakers in the world but you are no match for live music. i guess all we can hope for is for our systems to sound good to us and make us forget our troubles if only for a short while.

Check out http://www.german-physiks.com/

these have won muliple awards, as being the worlds best speakers. These, Redefy amazing. Honestly man, check out thet DDD bending wave converter. Its mind-bending, really. It BLOWS my mind, the idea and design. I'd Love to compare these to those meridians, too bad though, they're best line, costs $250k USD. per pair.
