And yeah - I'd take the bet that one could assemble a $3000 system and go toe to toe with a $6000 system. If you're buying a thousand dollar deck and thousand dollar amps (reasonable wattage) then you're already deep into the diminishing returns end of the pool... Hey - feel free to spend it but don't think you are getting extra value.
Price is rarely an indication of quality.
Especially in audio.

what is so closed minded and asinine about it. there is nothing wrong with it, unless i made a spelling mistake and i dont think i did. if you dont use cutting edge products like f#1 and a few other like it you havent optimized your system. saying that it is without it is closed minded. i disagree, price many times is a very good indicator of quality, sometimes not. i reiterate again that the law of diminishing returns doesnt apply in audio due to the subjectiveness of it

I think he is talking about your double speak here. It's like saying that I don't beleive cats are inferior, it's just that dogs are better. Or even better change it to race and you would have a whole heap of trouble.

And the system with $2,000 in equipment and $2,000 in install, will beat the system with $6,000 in equipment and $some yokel installing it.
Install is the number one determining factor is SQ and once you are at a certain level install wise the equipment ceases to matter to much.

No, I am talking about it being insane to make a sweeping statement that adding one piece of gear to any system will universally make it better. That's ludicrous.
And Dave - as someone with "$1100 amps" on their front stage it seems painfully obvious that you don't believe in the law of diminishing returns. Feel free to spend the money, hell it's yours, but don't fool yourself into believing that it does not exist.
It makes me wonder why you "settled" for the AVI speakers in the doors though - I mean Focal, Rainbow, and others make WAY more expensive speakers so they MUST be better right?

Umm... 90% of the systems I've seen that have F#1 gear in them are NOT owned by car audio freaks or hobbyests, they're basketballers, or baseball players, or rappers, or just people with more dollar bills than brain cells. They do NOT know how to use them, but some guy in a store told them that it's the best, so they wanted it. They never touch it except to change the presets that the installer put in there.
The best sounding sysytems I've heard are simple, and quite plain.
I may not be an SQ guru, but I do have a good ear, and I know the difference between an ego system and a system built to sound good.
You may now disregard my oppinion, since I don't own any F#1 gear, therefore I don't matter.

^^^^ I liked that, made me smile.
Ah, I guess us simpleton's just don't understand what it's like to waste a boatload of money on stuff just to simulate a quality system without any of the actual work ?

have you ever heard a systems with f#1 yourself, you said youve seen one, in pictures, have you heard one. do you really know if the athletes and such that you mentioned have no brain cells, maybe they are true audiophiles, they can afford it, and how do you know that they dont know how to use them. like ettore, i smiled when i read your post. a system with f#1 or things like it can be plain too, cant they?
